Dipstick tube on Atmo

Postby empty » Tue Feb 20, 2007 8:02 pm

Hi all,
what's the crack with replacing a rotten dipstck tube?
I was told by someone at Donnington that you replace it with a turbo one and include the stick also as they are a different length. Direct swap.
However when I called Mr. Sage tuther day for a price he mentioned cutting the stick ??
I've ordered one from Renault as you did'nt get back to me Mr. Sage!
Do I have to cut it??
I do hope not!

I think this is in danger of becoming a GTA Urban Myth
Drain the oil ,fit the new tube ,refill with correct amount as listed ,notch the dipstick to level indicated as and if needed

My last dipstick had 4 notches cut in it!

As suggested all I could do was drain re-fill (remember to include the 0.5l for the new filter) and see where it reached. It was the bottom notch :?

FWIW DeLorean dispticks are R30 and the tubes are not available any more, though they stop level with the top of the rocker cover:

The DeLorean takes about 7 litres including filter

I can give you some dimensions, perhaps you can fabricate a homemake one?

srry clee, only jokin?? (Thought we were having a rude joke!)
I have a new tube - for a turbo cos thats the only one available.
Mines an Atmo - but could'nt get the stick at same time!
Hav'nt a clue how long the original tube was cos it's rotted and fallen off!
Was told the 2 tubes and sticks are diffferent size.
So need to know the length of a turbo stick so I can ask for one here
