Bloody hell boys chill out!! Glad to say I have driven all of the above because I own them, the Dini's handle fantastic and so do the GTA, I am also in the process in building a intercooled Dini so it should be quite quick

MickPM if you need any parts for your Dini let me know I have a garage full of parts, bushes are time consuming but easy to do at the front, the rear a different story......

ooooooh really  . Well you was the first too slagg off my cars handling so i just returned the compliment about yours  .I still don't reckon that a GTA will be faster than a 200+ bhp 700 kilo 5 dini at anything except 1st gear traction . They may feel fast but they aren't all that really . Renault 21 turbos go and handle better and only cost £500

Oh dear you arent learning are you?......Renault 21Ts dont cost £500 anymore (unless they are scrap) and in standard form they dont out handle or out perform a GTA turbo.....you only have to look at the basic Autocar figures to know that (5.8 to 60 for the GTA).The problem with your whole post is that you dont actually know! Your Renault 5 probably weighs more than 700kgs and youve never compared it to any GTA tuned or not.
The thing about GTAs is that they look brilliant and as my trophies prove they go very well indeed. They attract attention because they look different (not like a Renault 5!) and youre really on the wrong forum to be slagging them off.

David..the T2 is definitely better than a Dini....Renault built them because the Dini wasnt up to the job of winning world rallies......unfortunately there are a lot of ropey T2s about because people have made efforts to keep them alive (because they were so damn expensive) where as most dini's died a rusty death because they were an ordinary R5 with a turbo charged engine at the time...this has made them rare now.

I won't even mention the chargecooled, standalone EFi'd white Motorscope R5 T2 then that fails to get close to you then on sprints and hillclimbs then...

With the money they are spending over this winter they ought to be quick in the season!!!!! I beat them when they had the GT5 cup car on slicks, so hopefully I can still do it with the T2 on road tyres! :D (fingers crossed)
P.S. they got THEIR big brake kit in October!

Plese remember the Dini was developed by ALPINE at the ALPINE factory and built by ALPINE before the T2 and won quite a few trophys in atmo form, Renault then saw the potential of the engine, done a few modifications to it and place it on the back of the same BODYSHELL of the dini put some fat arches to widen the track the rest is history....

So if it wasent for the Dini the T2 would have never hit the streets of France etc..... So please dont slag them off. 8)

I dont recall the GTA's winning many competitions when they first came out????

Not as fast on the same level of tune as a dini as they weigh as much as a stripped out GTA  Peterg mine DOES weigh 700 kilos and you won't be catching it even from a standstill off the lights , it will serve your GTA's asp up for breakfast that i can be sure off 8)

GTAs always won....but its a bit hard not to as all the cars in the race were GTA's..

By comparison on record, at Montlhéry, the prepared F40's and Porsche 930's were only 5 seconds quicker around the whole track.

I liked the way that renault sport raced renault 5's and not GTA's in world rally championship events . They used T2's in group B and 5 dinis in group A . Perhaps they knew something after all and left the GTA's outside the hotel !!!!!!!

Doubt it, it didnt exist before 85, and if you remember the predecessor the A310 dominated the rally scene.....

Later they ditched the R5 and moved on to the 11 Turbo, being a better all round package for rallying...

I like the way the GTA has a shorter wheelbase than the R5, but a 10" wider track....

..and people think little cars are like 'go-karts'

I don't remember A310's doing much dominating in rallying to be honest , and anyway A310's aren't GTA's which haven't done anything in motorsport except race each other in glorified one make shopping events for wealthy fat blokes  Renault 11's raced alongside the renault 5 gt turbos after the 5 gordini ceased production . A factory team can only enter and race with the current production model at the time and i don't remember GTA's doing much of it . They were outside the hotel after all

(I think you mean sure of! 8) )

You are a cocky sod! I havent been so bold as to say I'd kick your asp, Ive just asked you to prove that your car is as quick as you claim. You appear to know nothing about GTAs other than that you dont like them, and you apppear to have nothing to prove how quick your car is. I have a dozen or more trophies from the last 24 months and have beaten most cars Ive met in competition (the odd Evo excepted)....including the GT5 that holds the class record at Barbon hillclimb, a GT5 cup car and a tuned 21 turbo. The GTA isnt great on very tight tracks but it has a huge amount of torque (like you wouldnt believe) and takes open corners at great speed.
Feel free to keep making claims, but try and back them up with something other than bravado.

As for the rallying.....Renault quit Grp B before it folded in 1986 on a high with the T2 and carried on in Grp A with the 11. Grp A was a class for cars with 2 litre engines.....so there was no place for the GTA. There were also production targets (5000) that had to be met for Grp A homologation that the GTA didnt pass until much later even if it had been eligible. The GTA was hardly a rally car either as it had been built as a GT...low and sleek. Not a eurobox!
The GTA did a bit of circuit racing and did ok, but it was no motorsport hero....much like the Gordini turbo...and I dont think anyone is claiming any different!
