My drivers side window whistles at speed, have sorted the seals, but it doesnt go quite as far up as the passenger side. Ive had a brief look at the mounting at the bottom of the glass thinking I could just adjust it up a few mils but cant see a way. It was getting a little dark....is there some adjustment? I'm sure it didnt whistle when I bought the car, only since the motor was replaced.

Have you ever replaced the door hinges? If you have, maybe the problem is with the alignment of the door.

No, Ive fiddled with the door hinges and its definitely down to the window not locking securely into the rubber seal at the top.

If it doesn't seem to go up quite as far as the passenger side, then maybe the winder mechanism itself is not mounted back into the door quite right, if it's been out to replace the motor.

To be honest though, I've replaced a window mechansim on mine and, i think, it can only really be bolted back into the right place or it wont fit at all. I don't think it's possible to not put it back exactly right. Sorry, this is probably not much help!

There's an adjustable stop at the top

They are actually little window guides in the frame. When they need adjusting or refitting they can make the windows noisy, hard to move and give problems with draughts.

They may be causing your problem. I'll try and copy the relevant technical bulletin for you (163?) if I can find it. It's difficult to explain how to get at them otherwise.

The alternative is to elongate the holes for the widow pillar and motor to give some 'adjustment' although it sounds like you've already tried that.

Also make sure that you are getting the full range of travel from the worm drive, otherwise no amount of adjustment will help.

When you refit a window there are often draughts or whistles as the seal 'moulds' itself to the previous glass position and it's always hard to get it to sit in exactly the same place. A new seal might help but they're really expensive!

I'm confident its not the seals.....you can physically see that the glass isnt going high enough. The bulletin would be much appreciated.
