Power

Postby John Law » Fri Jan 12, 2007 3:11 pm

Out of interest what sort of horsepower and torque do the most highly tuned street legal GTA's/610's run? With regards to Roman's claims of 400hp (wheels or flywheel?) I was wondering what are the most powerful examles from Europe, Auz, America?

I think you'll find Kevin's got something exotic in his GTA - its more a silohette racer. I think it was some kind of 1 off development engine.

Ive heard about this 'engine' too, but again lots of conflicting info, ie its in a A310, or a GTA (and also a grass track car), then its rear engined and then Ive heard its mid engined, then I hear its got a set WM 24v heads (may sound exotic but by todays technology nothing special), then I hear its running an old Omex management, on an oddfire setup which they have never had that facility to run....

Does it actually exist, in a running vehicle, or is it just a collection of parts that could make a certain spec that hasnt actually been put togther yet (or ever will be).. Ive never seen or heard anything other than hearsay, theres no pics, no info, Ive even asked Kevin in an email and had no response :?: There seems to be too much hearsay spread around the net these days...

Sounds like a mythical beast!!!!
I dont think anyone (on this forum certainly) has broken the 300bhp barrier......Tony with his 3 litre GTA probably has the most powerful car at about the 300 mark.
I believe that with 2 turbos 400bhp is a possibility.....the A610 Lemans car had that much and was a production racer.....so Roman's claims could be real....but the lack of any evidence or even a photo of a car he's had for 5 years are more than a bit suspicious in my mind!!

Everything is nearly done for the biturbo, its a very simple system. Im just doing other bits to the car at the moment..

I have two GT28s, each turbo is sufficient for 300bhp each...

Over 300bhp is my goal...

Kevin's is 3 litre odd fire 12v running a standard crank and crossbolted block. Conrods, pistons and cams are bespoke, lots of headwork and he runs LOTS of boost. That's as much as I know - if you want more info, I suggest ringing him up and asking.....

The WM engine runs a standard odd fire crank - apparently they never broke one and ran over 800hp.

He OWNS one of the WM LeMans engines, but as far as I know, has never run it.

He's also got a couple of Venturi 400 engines.

He ALSO has a naturally asp 2.7 in his 310 on triple webers with electronic ignition - I have photos *somewhere* of that. He's touching 100hp/litre on that .

As I said, if you want more info, give him a ringo. Lovely bloke, even if he is welsh

Yeah, it was mentioned in an old issue of C.A.R, but no pics, info etc..

Who told you that about the cranks, they are bespoke forged oddfire cranks..

I think you'll find the 600bhp claims are for the ex LeMans engine. Fine, but it will need a rebuild every 24 hours
