Trial fitted new Turbo

A pic of the new manifold (Genuine TDC) TurboSmart HiTemp wastegate, Bigger T4 :)

:cry: Just have it all to take back off now and run it through to Andy at Zorstec to make a down pipe, silencer, and some pipe work for the intercooler ect and the charge cooler :wink:

Its looking like it will piece together OK,

Just need a Stanalone ECU, Steel liners and a uprated clutch :roll: :roll: and it still wont be has fast as the TR8 :evil: :evil: I keep saying to myself is it worth it, a voice keeps saying NO it isnt:shock:

Before anyone sez out the comp cover needs moving round :wink: and the other turbo taking off :)

good luck with finding a clutch....... if you do let me know..... been looking for a new cover for a long time...... like rocking horse sh!t they are....

Uprated APracing sintered plates and covers are available off shelf, good for 300+, you will need to modify your slave cylinder mounting, and if you haven't got a reiforced clutch hose now might be the time.

I can't see it on his site now, but IIRC he did (does?) a kit to fit an AP race clutch : http://www.gtoengineering.co.uk/gtor/page1.htm

Good luck with trying to find a standalone ecu aswell.

If it uses the same pickup as my old Gordini Turbo then you will struggle!
I tried many many companies and nobody could help me.
In the end it was either get a custom flywheel made or stay standard _ so i sold the car reluctantly!!!

PS!! Steve you need to add some support brakets for the turbo, otherwise you will crack your manifold.

APracing (uk) can supply, the full kit comes in at about £800, but to the future it gets cheaper, the friction plates are about £80 each. Takes a few days for delivery as stock is held in Germany.

Let me know if you have any problems, have the part numbers somwhere :)

Forget it, just remembred (Steve) GMS (the link I sent you a week or so ago) have developed the DB (dogs bullocks) of a clutch, looks neat and progressive (the AP is not) try them first.

Yep, was going to see if Andy at Zorstec could make some brakets up to support the Turbo, Saying that i was thinking they might be available off the shelf from such has John Price, ill give him a try after the New Year.

Regarding a ECU, I think it was welchwizards old T2 which was and still is using a Omex ecu, Maybe next winter for that :wink:

It should end up looking a bit like this, mabe a bit more shiney but not to bling :wink:

The Adaptronic will work with the Gordini Flywheel with no mods...

The Omex uses an aftermarket trigger wheel fitted to the crank pulley, and bracketry made up for the new TDC sensor..

Clutch wise, I would scrap the twin plate and get a custom single, which will be better and cheaper. There are big power 5 GT's still runing a 200mm single plate clutch with nearly 300bhp/250lb/ft and used primarily for drag racing on slicks, so far more abuse than it gets in a Turbo2 - Even turbo converted Clio 182's still run uprated 200mm clutches and make over 300bhp/300lb/ft torque...

The lever arm would need looking at as it works in reverse, but nothing insurmountable...

The original clutch may be a twin, but it was designed over 20 years ago and clutch technology have moved on...

The guys running a T2 in the speed championship I do had a clutch made up for them (because they didnt like the sound of £800!) and had to change the way the lever arm worked. Initially it was so hard to engage the clutch people were going to try it for a laugh.....I could only just engage it....have never come across anything like it! They then had it adjusted and its still stiff but not too bad. I can probably dig out contact details for them.....they are in the process of a complete strip down and rebuild for next year.

Complete clutch set including the parts (specific hydraulic stop GMS, organic discs SACHS RCS Sport, Mechanisms SACHS, Stainless hoses, screw of purging, screws and bolts) and the modification of your flywheel, and your clutch housing (the modification of the clutch is reversible, no cutting)

1,765 euro :shock: :shock:

Nice to know the Adaptronic will work.............
