from what ive been told peter it helps give a smoother boost curve, less resrtriction in the exhaust, stops boost creep and makes your car sound like a ww2 fighter plane when on boost  well it did on my brothers starlet gtt

Looks like mine

Postby Tony Smith » Sun Nov 19, 2006 9:34 pm

I've got a large one like that too! Although it doesn't appear to have the balanced impeller like mine has, was truly a work of art (not A.R.T. ) specially built by Turbo Technics. What I can report is that it has fantastic driving characteristics yes the boost comes in later than on a standard car but you can still get full boost by 3000 rpm and the transition is so smooth you wouldn't even realize there was a turbo fitted - except for the noise! I'm sure the extra capacity helps with the off boost lethargy though.

100% its got a 'balanced impeller'

This unit now constitutes as my Stage 2 unit. I won't hook up to the standard intake hose though, as it has a massive 4" inlet due to the premium spec compressor housing.. 8)
