Got caught down the M1 at 110.5 for a 5 miles back in 1996. Think it was between J12 and J11 southbound at 1 am.

Copper was fine, suggested I goto court and give evidence myself and present any mitigating circumstances i.e. job etc.

I also employed a barrister - oh how posh.

Well I ended up standing in front of the Hemel Hempstead migistrates and gave evidence telling them what a bad lad I had been and how I had let everyone doen etc etc.

Ended up with a £400 fine (I was an IT contractor then and was means tested) and a £200 barristers bill. Oh and a 2 week ban with no points.

This didn't end up costing me anymore money on insurance and taught me a VERY valuable lesson about speeding. Not least of all because of the inconvenience of public transport living in Hull and working in London ! In fact I have driven much more steadily and cautiously since but of course have my moments and still enjoy my sports cars more than ever ;-)

Good luck.

I seriously think this would work, especially if they were placed ever 100 meters, much much better than sleeping policemen.

I recently had to renew my insurance for GTA turbo and A310. I was worried that the 6 points i recently got would mean the insurance was gonna go sky high... Still with footman james, and still paying the same premium,, about £500. I was quite relieved, they said the points will make no difference to the premium
