To save confusion of an oddfire being even crankpins and an evenfire having offset crankpins, its the one that requires the engine to be rotated 120 degrees for timing instead of 150... (so its offset  )

lol, no, most people use re-use the timing marks when they should not, so most are timed up nearly correctly, but not quite....

experience tells me.... whenever you take a timing belt off (or a chain, but not done one yet) you should mark the belt and pulleys with tip-ex. Then transfer the marks to the new belt and it's easy from there on.... one final check and it'll all be as good as new.

Havent you figured it out yet?.....Thats why the manual says ignore any marks on the chains (cos they're not Renault ones, they were probably put on by the numpty that had a go at timing it up before... )

If it was wrong to start with, then my method will not make it any worse afterwards and the car should run as good as before, but as I mentioned,... once you have made your own marks, turn it a couple of times and make sure you are happy with what you are starting off with.
