So at the worst, presuming its the manifolds that have done the damage:( is it a turbo rebuild or a new turbo?

I know its impossible to be exact but what sort of price for a rebuild? would it be poss to up-spec my turbo?

Talking of specs; whats the spec on my turbo (aimed at Dave) (apart from been knackered  )

Just trying to sus things out, Think it will be Noble nxt year though now :(

the turbos off :) but while i was looking at it i was thinking if the comp wheel has hit the side of the comp housing and the bits/swarf have been blown into the engine how much damage could it do to the engine?and regarding the turbo i havent got any further finding the cause of its death as everything else apart from comp wheel looks fine

Exhaust end of the Turbo OK, so i think that rules the maifolds out for the route cause?, air filter attached so somthing finding its way in seems unlikely? if you look closly the wheel as only been touchng on part of the housing :? Totaly lost WHY? maybe the 1 bar boost :? which lasted for 30 seconds

The exhaust end would be ok if it was from the manifolds because the bits would be spat into your induction system.....and probably caught in your intercooler or chargecooler......failing that, check for any farm animals etc that may have been sucked in!!!!

Nope, theres no end play or thrust movement on it..

And the wheel has only hit the housing on one section only, almost as if the comp housing wasn't fitted quite straight. If a bearing goes and allows the whole shaft to 'orbit' then the wheel will touch all sides. There has to be some forced missalignment for it just to hit the housing on one side only.. :?

Possible to be done when the manifolds were put on... Only needs some grinding swarf or weld spatter to fall into an intake pipe sitting on a bench..? Might have been just sitting there, and then when you raised the boost, finaly sucked it through...
