The turbo was a 0.48 T3 with a 60 trim compressor.

Raising the static compression ratio won't simply bring back the lower end torque though, and may lead to knocking back the timing at bit in the higher ranges... :)

Indeed....the problem is we can't skim the heads to that effect on the V6's due to the way the timing cover it setup on the front of the engine, any anything significant skim wise ends up with a piston/valve party due to the high crowns on the GTA pistons..

The best way of raising the dynamic ratio on the GTA, would be to have new forged pistons, dead flat up to the max height of the original crown..

The thing with the GTA, being an old engine design, and its placement, and the high temps it experiences, the 8.6:1 is a little too high, hence why Renault dropped it down to 8:1, and then to 7.6:1 in the A610..

some manufacturers ie porsche and lancia turbo engines use very little overlap ie 1degree for road cars to retain driverbility however the latest rally cars run 11.75-1 comp 3bar boost and simply huge amounts of water injection oh and dont forget 25 plus degrees of ignition retard on tickover to generate over 1bar boost for instant throttle responce

Yours has the same turbine housing, but a larger compressor.

Manifold wise, difficult to say from the pics. Im a bit worried about that you havent got flexis and sleeve joints, as sleeve joints are not air tight, and a manifold runs high internal pressure (engine PSI + Boost psi on top of that), unlike a normal exhaust system which has just mild back pressure) Also it looks like, he has welded the stainless primaries to the original mild steel flanges.

Id just check for cracking or leaks, that is all. :) Might be worth not wrapping it for a while yet..

They need to, they are running restrictors on the turbo inlet.....

Dave the flanges are new (Just checked the old system in the back of the astra to be 100% :) ) A bit worried with your comments on the sleeve joints :( all seems OK with them, Ill take your advice with the wrap though and wait.
One thing i am surprised with is the system is no louder which i am not complaining about but i thought it would have been :?:
Thats sounds good re; the turbo, theres hope getting to 280 bhp with it :) if not the goal of 300 :evil:

ive already bought the wrap

not sure when its going back to noble hopefully soon but i have more bits to fit first also my dad said i can buy his external wastegate if i want it but that means back to zorstec and a different exhaust housing :roll:

I heard about it after I did the yellow car's manifold in wrap.
I want a PRV person to give it a go (and find out the cost) before I have to make a decision on the red one 8)

Its the cost that worries! Ive found a nice rust destroyer that just paints on and will make your rusty old parts look like newly cast metal.....would need to use that first then the ceramic coat to do a proper job and that gonna hurt!!!!. I wrapped my whole system using e-bay for less than £50.

Same here (both manifolds) - Wire brush, Fertan, VHT paint followed by wrap.
But I hear ceramic is better and doesn't wear out in 5 years.
