Saab have recently:
http://www.renaultalpineownersclub.com/ ... light=saab

I can't help but think that a 350bhp+ GTA would probably not be the nicest car to drive anyway other than on a race track. The Europa cup cars were massively quick and only had 300 bhp, but combined this with light weight a la PeterG.

Kevin Jones at C.A.R. wrote an article on his 530bhp+ autograss racer based on an A310 engine and gearbox, but if you read it, it's pure race spec. Water and alcohol injection, 3.2 litre, 12 injectors, twin T3/T4 hybrids, 12.2mm lift cams, dry sumped, big valves and 2.5 bar of boost.

Anythings possible if you have the money but that's not to say it's going to make a great road car.

Yes, and that engine is actually an ex-Lemans Peugeot PRV which he was lucky to come across. Had 88mm liners and a one off crank..

The last edition of these engines with 24v heads made 900bhp at nearly 4 bar boost..

I read these a while ago round at Davids. This is the relevant part of the email

I'll be straight with you David.....I do not know what the 'real' number is for Horsepower that my PRV makes. I use 500 as a figure that makes those who have '300+hp' and are left standing still feeling better.......

you never know it might not be that bad, theres a few cars in the family that have twice as much power as standard and they all seem to drive very well maybe its down to how they are set up

I don't think its 'driving badly' but its more like you will lose that kick in the pants that you get at 2500-3000 in a GTA..

GTA's and 610 can match more powerfull HP cars on the road, because of this torque kick low down which can give them a head start. If we lose that, then we will really need lots more BHP...

Twin-turbos on the GTA

Postby Tony Smith » Mon Mar 06, 2006 5:11 pm

******** currently have an unfinished twin turbo GTA project that a customer has bought in. Panheinrique style kit which looks much better on the hard top, Fagix wheels, and rebuilt prv with 2 x T2's hanging down the side on custom manifolds, twin intercooler fitted similarly to the Venturi. Built by ********, owner died several years ago and car has been sat ever since. D plate car with 30K. Looks like an absolute fortune has been spent, although alot of work still required to complete. Negotiations for the turbo set-up are under way!

A610 v Skyline

Postby Tony Smith » Mon Mar 06, 2006 5:26 pm

I just read the e-mail thread on the Volvo and have to disagree with the A610 being as quick as the Skyline. It may have been me you were referring to, but I've gone head to head against several GTA's and Joe Salama's A610 on the way to events last year (Gt Battle/ Retro car day) and the Skyline was comfortably quicker than the A610 and destroyed the GTA's. Because of the Skylines 8000 rpm rev limit you can virtually always use the next gear down compared to the Alps. Yes an A610 may pull harder between 2-3000 rpm but when was the last time you went for a flat out drive at 2000 revs. Against a standard Skyline I reckon an A610 would be quicker though.

David you really should make your way over here once I get my car back on the road and go for a spin with me......
You will have to be sure and rent a 400 horse rental car and we can see which car leaves which for dead.
