Engine Management indicator

The engine management indicator (red one with a wiggly line) has been flickering on whilst driving today. It does not stay on but flickers on now & then. Could this be a sign of a problem or is it more likely to be a case of a bad connection between the dash and the ECU ?
The indicator is lit ok before I crank the engine which I believe means everything is ok ? :?: :?
Any ideas anyone ?

Always best to check the earth first. Check the engine earth too, often an problem on non-forros cars. There is an earth on the side of the gearbox, I'm not sure if this is the main engine one, but worth cleaning up too.

Yes, it probably means a dodgy sensor on the engine.

The ones that will trigger it will be the coolant temp sensor, air temp sensor, map sensor, and knock sensor.

Mine sometimes used to flicker on and off whilst driving too. It turned out to be a broken wire at the base of the idling adjusting potentiometer. (located on the right hand side of the engine bay, near the ignition power module) So worth checking for broken wires too.

Ok thanks.
I presume a diagnostics check should reveal the dodgy one.
Is one of those sensors mentioned more likely to go than the others ?

Give them all a wiggle and see if the dash light pops up, it may just be a break in the wiring..
