Calibrate the oil level with 7.6L of oil then spend £1.49 and just trim a few mm off.

Then again I used a meat probe to measure temperatures so 'nuff said.....
I'm just here for the gasoline.

Only £22.
What is wrong with the old one.
If it needs recalibrating, use a hack saw to make some more lines on it, but wipe all the swarf off before inserting it.

The old one is a bit bent and knackered to be fair, but the problem I see is that its impossible to fully empty the GTA engine because of where the drain plug is so it is difficult to be totally accurate.

Is what bull? My sump plug is on the side of the sump not the bottom and even tipping the car up with jacks is gonna leave a significant amount in it!

Sump plug has no wires attached...and no Tony I dont have a second sump plug I have checked. 1 and only one at the side and apparently bigger than the sump plugs listed for any PRV engine in the Renault catalogue

Is your sump plug on the side as per the parts manual, page 10.501 where part 31 is labeled?
What do you have on your sump where part 13 is?

There is nothing where 13 should be....and my one and only sump plug is huge!!! I know because I ordered a standard one and its dwarfed by mine. Went the the Renault garage and checked through all their parts manuals and they only list one plug for the PRV. I believe some cars have some kind of electronic sender where my sump plug is.....whats it for?

see page 10.501 of the parts manual.
It says "oil temp" (pictorially) it has 2 wires on it, when this one reaches 60 degs the engine bay fans come on at 6volts. I proved it but putting the 2 wires togetehr a couple of months ago.
Just humour us, lets see a picture of the leading edge of your sump pan...... tomorrow. Perhaps you have a custom sump???

The GTA is turboless at the minute and my camera is not capable of a shot like this without the car being up on a ramp so youre gonna have to wait! It looks totally standard as far as I can see apart from the things mentioned. I have some kind of oil sender device just above the sump on that side.....although that may be oil pressure.

Strange :?

Is your sump tin or alloy? There is only one sump listed for the GTA and AFAIK they are all the same.

It it's alloy perhaps yours was damaged at some point and replaced with one off a R30 or Delorean.
