In my experience a good standard GTA will make @ 140-150bhp at the wheels (on an accurate RR). This will drop off rapidly with continuous runs unless they have some serious cooling fans. Those big rear wheels add considerably to the transmission losses - I've been told you can easily lose 3-4 bhp per inch!

A rolling road shoot out then somtime in the future:) with a mag feature I would have thought such as Retro car or GTI would luv that?

Bet there would be some red faces though prob mine Looking in this Months J Tuner they really do get some strange results with the expected power and the true power (on the day)

Anyone see the episode of Top Gear where they took an old white XJS, completley stripped it of all superfluous weight, added nos and lined it up on a drag strip against a bunch of modern supercars - 911 turbo etc. The Jag left them for dead! Predictable perhaps, but a good demonstration of how effective light weight and a bit of nos can do!

I'm intending to have my black GTA featured in Retro Cars or Performance GTi and 1 of the French mags once I get it back with the ECU running

Peter (G) you had a GTi-R well impressed! Do You still have it? And do you know who has mine now, K20GTR, a wonderful car for those who have not driven them, they would unfortunatly 'wee' all over our slightly older 'things'

Have not had the effort to read all your responses on this very long thread, but for all you power maniacs, remember Renault got 1,200bhp out of their F1 engine (4 pot), managed 240 BHHP out of 1397cc and 350BHP out of 1480cc on the 5T.s so you with 6 pots and almost 3000cc should be able to manage at least 1,800bhp

When you get it can it can I come and watch :shock

Remember a car is only as fast as it is balanced , unless you live near and use the M48 where a car can be as fast as you want before your cranckase blows out ( my record here is 186 with a 3.3 turbo with 'locked down wastegate' )((Porsche that is sorry ))

lol, no he said he 'had' the 400bhp GTI-R in his GTA , ..awful cars to drive..

Beat the GTI-R at the Jurby pursuit sprint good and proper!!! For all its 400+bhp it wasnt that much quicker in a straight line....probably all the weight (it was a serious bit of kit with a monster roll cage as well as all the 4wd gubbins)....he turned the tables on me at the Lhergy Frissell hillclimb though....the GTA isnt so good on hairpins.
The problem I have with the GTI-R is its such a dull car to look at...its a Nissan Sunny at the end of the day!
