Grand Turismo 4 Renault Alpine Challenge

Postby Tony Smith » Tue Feb 28, 2006 4:42 pm

I'm sure a lot of you must play this so I've come up with a little challenge.
2 Alpines and 3 Renaults, unlimited modifications.
Best times on free run on the following car circuit combos

1. Alpine A110 1600s at the Chamonix Ice Rally

2. Clio 172 at St George Paris

3. Clio V6 Race Car at Cote d'Azure (Monaco Formula 1)

4. Mid engined 5 Turbo Maxi at the Costa Amalfi Rally

5. A310 at the Nurbering

Add the times up and we'll compare. Maybe some sort of prize for the winner.

Any takers (save on your memory card to confirm no cheating!)
Alpines - GTA 3.0 Turbo, GTA 3.0 Inj (Project DD), GTA 6.2 V8 (500 bhp) , R32 Skyline GTR, BMW Alpina B10 635 Highline, Alpina B10 E39 5 Series, Jaguar 4.2 XKR, Laguna 205GT, BMW 120d.

Haven't played this for ages, so I'll be a bit rusty (get the excuses in early :D ) and not sure I've got a clio 172 or v6 race car, but I've got the Alpines and 5 Turbo so I'll give them a go. :D
GTA V6 Turbo - BTW check your earths!

Haven't got any clios so I can't post a total time for all tracks and didn't have time tonight to attempt them all anyway. :(

But had time to have a brief go around Costa Amalfi in the 5 maxi turbo. (One of my fav. cars! :D )

As I said, haven't played for ages, and didn't have time to check the state of tune but it's 355BHP. Only had time for 3 laps (no warm up laps and no bouncing off walls!) My times were:

Lap 1: 2'06.478
Lap 2: 2'05.833
Lap 3: 2'01.390

Sure I can go under two minutes with a bit more practice! :)

No doubt you'll be loads quicker! :P

I'll post some more times as soon as I have time. (And I can get round the 'Ring without spinning the A310 - twitchy devil! )

Some target times

Postby Tony Smith » Thu Mar 02, 2006 4:52 pm

Had a go at each track this afternoon so target times as follows:

A110 at Chamonix 2.47 - this was rubbish quite frankly and I think 2.30 would be a decent time.

172 at St George 1.33 - again loads of room for improvement 1.15 -1.20 easily possible.

V6 Clio at Cote d'Azure 1.44 - I felt this was pretty quick - anything under 1.35 be going some

5 Maxi at Amalfi 1.51 - again I thought this was pretty quick

A310 at the Ring 9.51 - What a handful spend as much time on the grass as the track but did see 180 mph on the long fast section towards the end before spinning off - I reckon under 9 minutes with condiderable practice!
Alpines - GTA 3.0 Turbo, GTA 3.0 Inj (Project DD), GTA 6.2 V8 (500 bhp) , R32 Skyline GTR, BMW Alpina B10 635 Highline, Alpina B10 E39 5 Series, Jaguar 4.2 XKR, Laguna 205GT, BMW 120d.

Welcome to geeks corner!!!

I had a go on my bro-in-law-to-be's PS2 a few weeks back playing this......quite entertaining for an hour or so, but what a bloody carry on getting everything set up choosing this choosing that and then you have to earn points to get cars and extras.....I couldnt be arsed to spend the time. Life's too short!

Never had a Playstation, retired as a teenage champ after the Binatone system in 197.....  Before the internet was invented too, or mobile phones, probably just after we got our first colour TV.
