The handles do look better in the flesh because they arent too far off the colour of the carpet, but they aint the prettiest thing Ive ever owned thats for sure!!! Scoured the whole scrap yard for black ones but these bluey grey ones were the best I could find. Most of the others were pale grey, cream or brown :?

Paint equals more weight, how about drilling holes in them then?

The handles are hard plastic......whatever the paint people say it never works properly on that kind of plastic, esp as its going to get 'used' all the time

How about just make a hole in the carbon fibre panel and put your fingers through to pull the door shut?

Race car diet.

Postby Tony Smith » Wed Feb 15, 2006 4:19 pm

My race car diet has started, and as its going in modified production everything is coming out. Already all unnecessary underbonnet trim etc removed, everything from interior has already gone except for the centre console which will be removed. No back glass at all will just be fibreglass side panels and perspex hatch. Side glass in perspex, no electric window motors. Hoping to get it under a ton. Whats yours down to know Pete?

1050kgs with 2 gallons of petrol and a nearly empty washer bottle. If you are adding a cage I dont think you will get under 1000kgs.

Peter, any idea what your starting weight was?

I had mine weighed today, 1180 kg with 8 gals fuel and no space saver wheel. AZEV 17by 10 on the back which are 12kg heaver than the originals, otherwise, all else is standard.

1180 without the spare sounds about right. I have shed over 100kgs now and its now 1050. Didnt weigh it at the start as I didnt realise it was going to become an obsession!!!

peter, ditch the washer bottle, surely you don't use it on race days, just for the annual MOT test? Or change it for a bag type which you can empty on race days?
