Fantasy Xmas Alpine

Postby darrenbiggs » Wed Dec 21, 2005 3:03 pm

Being that it's almost Xmas I thought I'd ask the question what spec Alpine people would wish for supposing you could squeeze one into a stocking.

Keeping things essentially realistic here's mine:

A GTA with the Le Mans / Polytecnic bodywork, painted in the Moonstone blue-grey that Ford used on the RS500s (don't ask why I just think the colour would suit it) Either 17inch Le Mans replicas or Azev Cs.

24v PRV V6 tuned to about 280 bhp (with some weight loss from the rear in turbo/intercooler and heat shielding I think that would be plenty) - much as I love the turbo I think a well tuned atmo 3litre would probably suit the dynamics better.

ART dampers and Mr Dell's 4 pot brakes.

Leather seats, but replace the fronts with Recaros or similar to get rid of the 70's squared off look. Re-trim the carpet in charcoal grey and cover the transmission tunnel + rear panels in charcoal alcantara. Trim the front door speaker panels in Moonstone alcantara to match the paint.

Replace the instument pack with a custom made unit - something curved (think TVR) and with dials that work all the time!

That's pretty much it. I guess a 6 speed box would be nice and some other details but I reckon that spec would just about do it........ oh and a garage to put it in.

Well it beats after-shave and socks at any rate, so let's hear your Ultimate Alpine.
Merry Xmas one and all!
I'm just here for the gasoline.

My car with another 50bhp, better brakes and a speedo that worked all the time, not just once every fourth drive and on months with an N in them.
I might even have my dream car next year.....well perhaps not the speedo bit!!!
