Why doesnt my Ren dealer recognise part No's

It gets worse Both cam cover gaskets are diferent part No's and there is only one available from Renault

following part No's correct.
6001040293 is correct and available
7401269810 is a old part No but as not been superseded, so nothing available

Part No 6001040294 is a good part No but is for a later Alpine? these dont fit my Alpine Cam covers

Any ideas where i can get the other gasket?
Ime speaking to the Manager tomorrow in the hope he will take the later gaskets back so far the parts manager is digging in and wont hear nothing of it

Yes, it has....if I put that number into the Renault system, the superceeded number is 6001040294!

So obviously, Renault has made a cockup.

Best thing for you to do is to go to a motor factors, and buy some gasket paper, and draw round the cover and make a new one, and make the holes with a hammer and punch. This works fine combined with some gasket sealant.

Do not get any more shittier with the parts manager! he is paid to be shitty with people like us.
Just ask him for the contact details of his regional manager and also the customer relations department at head office, and if he gives you a UK address for HQ, politely ask for HQ in france. does he want to give you all those sorts of details, probably not. He is probably trying to reduce local costs at your expence to make his bonus. He will not want the heavy mob on his back and should roll over for you with a full refund, you could accept a credit note, 'cos you'll be back. Don't forget to thank him for his help what ever he gives you and whish his staff a merry christmas. At worst you will have a couple of letters to write (don't forget to mention the really excellent service that you are used to from some where else) and next time you will be able to mention the names of some HQ wallers.

Dave, Is it at all possible that the EARLY cam covers were changed at somtime, i know what you mean that it is possible for Renault to have got them wrong, but the guy at Renault york was on the telephone to HQ for ages with the same answer, two seperate part No's which must be correct as both of the cam covers are different

Nope.

What seems to have happenned is Renault only make gaskets for the latest PRV (the Z7X used on the Safrane and Laguna etc) On these engines the left hand bank has a cover identical to the V6 Turbo, but on the right, they have a raised cover for the balancer shaft system.

Renault don't do the right hand side old gasket anymore, so theyve defaulted ALL V6s to the new RH partnumber as its still a PRV, but it won't fit as you have found.

Your only option is the gasket paper route.., or try a motor factor that list a Volvo/Delorean type..

So it's their fault

Its going to be there fault when they telephone me tomoz but the two 60 01 040 294 gaskets dont fit either of my cam covers, ive ordered the one 60 01 040 293 gasket from them in the hope its right ill have to make the other if theres no look with the motor factors

I know the GTA is only low volume but surly somone should be filling the hole on the parts chain, even though its only a cam gasket

Anyway back to when the manager telephones tomorrow
