Anybody interested in a rolling road day?

I'm pretty friendly with the guys down at Power Engineering in Uxbridge or Dynotech out near Basingstoke. Would anyone be interested in a rolling road day. Usually works out about 30 quid a car but obviously more cars equals cheaper per person. If theres enough interest I could organize something. I can call in the 21 Turbo club to make up the numbers if necessary.[/b]

Tony, Yep I'm interested. Never been on a rolling road, what "output" do you get to see? Will I be able to see how accurate/inaccurate my speedo is? On the motorway, when I'm in my weekday-car 100mph seems fast and I pass a lot of cars, but in the GTA everone seems to be cruising at 100 too, surely not???
Uxbridge and Basingstoke are good for me.

Simon, they strap your car down to a set of rollers and connect up various sensors to measure fuel air ratio and such like, then accelerate gently thru the gears, plonk it in third at about 1500 revs then floor it. The linked computer produces a graph of power and torque which they will print out for you to keep. Also dynometer has dials you could watch instead if you wished. Will give power at the wheels and at the flywheel. Would just be interesting to compare cars that are standard and with different mods - see what works.

I forgot to mention they can check your speedo accuracy. I think yours must be pretty close though my 21 Turbo was showing 151-152 on the Austrian Motorway and about 6000 rpm in 5th when I was behind you.

Tony, What a blast!!! cor those Friday boys missed out and wasted 3 and a half hours on the road. Anyway, as you know, I wear my seat belt, use my phone when needed and keep my eyes on the road (even when map reading), safe enough for most road users. I never saw a speed limit sign (for long enough to read it), I just did the decent thing and kept up with the flow of traffic, If you were doing 6,000 revs I guess I was too, but I'm pretty sure I was in 5th but I sure had my eyes on the road as it passed by. In fact I seem to remember it as a pretty non-descript landscape, just flat land and long straights.

Sounds like a good day out... I'd be interested as mine's chipped (superchip) but got no idea how much extra BHP I got, but it does feel like its got a lot more torque... Had even more until I had to turn the boost down as it kept cutting oout under full bore acceleration...

and 150km isn't that fast......

I am the boys in blue But speeding is o.k. as long as youre not doing it past schools and old ladies.....I do it everyday and traffic havent caught me yet If the rolling road does go ahead you should contact Retrocars mag.....they are interested in this kind of thing and feature it. I'd like to go, but I suspect its gonna be in the South and my time off is mostly weekdays...all weekends for 3 months being booked!
