Ok this has been a long time coming. Since i joined the club i have watched others compete but no more. Now it was my turne to have a go. The car would be my DD. A Twingo RS 133 cup.
Image
Keeping it simple i would be in the road going class up to 1600. All i added was new disc's,pads(DS 2500),BMC filter and stainless steel braided brake lines. Also a CG Lock on the seat belt.
Come the big day i was ready the car was too but the weather had other ideas. Simon said it rained in the morning well everything was wet before i started and it meant it was all a rush so i missed out on the track walk. Green light and off we go to look at the track pottered round and made it back :up Below you can see the car in what became the Renault/Alpine paddock.

It turned into a really good day with so many friendly faces it was almost like a club meeting. Thanks to Simon Taylor for the little push to do the event(which was very well organized despite my efforts) and for the support from Stephen and Simon G.
I must also thank John Law for taking over the photos when i was at the wheel. How did you make the Twingo look so tall.

And a little to quick for John i think here.

Even those that had an off seemed to be happy about it :up

Here are some more photos of the cars that made it to the event.

Yes did about 11 runs at speed so that's like 3 years competing at LVB. You only get to do 4 runs on the day so it's got to help. Classes are a bit odd at Prescott and you get lumped altogether post 1972 salons so I will probably just be competing against old father time.

Miles,
You will get to the top of the hill faster than all those "fastest Alpine in the UK" cars.......because they cant even get to the start line. Yes, I know there is a bunch of excuses, but the Twingo flys faster on the hill :crazy

Simon
I know what you mean if you haven't been able to get an entry I think it may be just me from the club :o Still it's all about being part of the day for me :) I did meet up with a young man in a Clio on Wednesday and he will be on the hill on Sunday. So we will see which one of us has remembered how to do it.

Ok here we go again. Prescott 2015 started dry for the first run which went well but then the rain came. This had all but stopped by the time we set off on the second run.So just a wet track still went about 6.5 seconds slower. The car was fine under braking but little grip out of the corners.Anyway it was all good and ended the day in one piece. The classes are a bit odd for Prescott so i was in post 1972 saloons. Me in my road going Twingo up against Renault 5 Turbo 2,Megane R26,striped out Clio RSs and a Subaru Impreza. This meant it was just me and the stop watch. At the school on the 6th they said i should be able to get under 60 sec in this car and for my first time on the hill that was my goal. With the fastest of the 4 runs being a 58.88 i was happy with that :D
I just like to thank Chis Seamark for keeping me company in the paddock hope you got home safe and the cars an easy fix. Also Mark and Cedric for their words of encouragement :up
Here are some photos of the day hope you like them as i much as i enjoyed the event.

OK bit late with an up date only 4 months :crazy
Rushmoor agin but this time in the dry :up Very good turn out for this great event. Lots of Renault and Alpines
Much better performance from me as I had a bit of an idea what I was doing. Second to last timed run and I was 3rd in class but this was short lived. And on the last run I was piped to 3rd by 300 hundreds of a second by one of the regulars. Still I was pleased with that and the car was undamaged. It was nice to see John and Tony out in the GTA as well as Simon using his 21 ;)
It would be nice to see more members have a go and this event is a good one to start with, well organised and with RAOC members there its like a club meet but with timing gear.
So here are a few photos, have a look and maybe come along next year :)

Nice post Miles.
Looks like you were running as "Number 1" :-)
Glad you got a good picture of my home-mechanics too.
String was the 80's fore-runner to cable ties and gaffer tape and good enough for 5th Overall. Was a great day for me too :-)

Well looks like this is going to be the end of this thread. Don't worry the car is fine but all being well is moving on to a new owner next week. :? I have to say the Twingo has been great,a daily driver that you can have fun on the track and do 40mpg. :super what's not to like.
Not sure the new car will be as hard core but could be interesting on track and definitely very different. We will have to see......
