How to dismount A310 dashboard

Postby xranalli » Sat Mar 24, 2018 2:45 pm

Dear friends
I'm in embarassing situation:
I'm dismounting a dashboard of my 310 and I do not know how to remove the steering column cover,
I tryed removing all screews but it seems not sufficient because the wipers switch and ligh switch do not allow to take away the platic cover that interferes with instruments plate.
Do you know the right way?
If I do not remove it I cannot remove the plate with instruments (I should repair odometer and clock)

I had the same problem a few years ago when I was restoring my car and needed to replace some of the instrument panel light bulbs. I also couldn't see how the lights and wiper stalks could be removed to allow the steering column cover to be removed. As I didn't want to risk damaging the stalks I had to find a different way to replace the bulbs.

I removed the small socket cap head screws that attach the instrument panel to the fixed dashboard and found that there was enough slack in the wiring behind to allow the panel to be pulled forward. The attached photo shows it pulled forward and resting on top of the steering column cover. If you detach the panel on your car you might find that you have enough room to disconnect the wiring and the fixing brackets from the instruments. Looking at your photo it looks as if you've already removed the panel screws.

I'd still like to know how the steering column cover is removed, once all the screws are removed, just out of interest.

That was quick, good work.
I don't know of any supplier for those indicator lights. I haven't seen them listed by the usual suppliers (Simon Auto, GBS, AVP, Treico, Mecaparts). Perhaps you could try to repair the damaged one.
If I ever need to dismantle the dashboard I'll be back to you for the dismantling report, thanks.

I replaced the printed screen of odometer and rpm counter
the result is good
I replaced the gear of odometer that was missing and I fixed a problem in the clock

but I saw a very strange trouble.... :crazy
When I switch on the wipers the odometer becames crazy and goes to 80 or 100km/h
Now I don't know what I can chek
Maybe the ground connections but it is very difficult...
Did anyone note this problem sometime?
