Well, first a big thanks to the supporters club that turned up on a delightful summers day at a great location, thanks Miles and Simon G for making the effort it is much appreciated.

As for the sprint itself, it certainly was an eye opener. Such speeds I have never seen in the RAOC/Anglia Electrics Spider uk cup car when sprinting before and a whole new load of issues to deal with, mainly terror!
Flat in 6th (yes it does have 6 as I found out today!) on the "straight" before Woodcote, does get you doubting if you tightened up all those ball joints and rod ends enough as if anything breakes here you, or I, are in serious trouble and I must admit the fear did get to me, big time. It took the final run before I had any confidence in the car but left happy and wanting to return in the end.
As for resuts? not so great, 4th out of 6 in the end but a good result for the all circuit championship though as the other class competitiors didnt bother showing.
I know for a fact though, the Spiders air screen does not work at all above 110mph!

A Class win against some close competition, had to bolt the slicks on to beat a stripped out Focus ST that was running on 888's
Thanks again for Simon for turning out and helping with the wheel changes and trailer loading
Next championship event is Lydden on June 4. Regs for competition entries available, pm me for details.
little matter of Macon, Prescott and Crystal Palace in between though.

Good day at Lydden again, fast becoming my best track. Once again stiff compettion from the Ford Anglia which beat me by 3 seconds last time here (also faster than me at Crystal Palace last week)and Mitchells well prepared Clio 182 cup amongst others. Managed to keep a second faster than the Anglia all day this time and ended up with a best time of 85.67, some three seconds faster than in April. Another class win then!

Well Done Mark!!

Postby si21 » Tue Jun 07, 2011 2:40 pm

Fantastic day out Mark thanks for sorting the ticket for me. Well done for winning your class. That Anglia looks like it been around a long time and been well sorted, it was very quick at the Palace too but was probably in a different class, all I know is it trounced me

Fantastic circuit racing too something for everyone the Mini and the Skoobie swapping the lead twice a lap every lap was something I thought I'd never see, but seeing is beleiving eh  8) Brilliant to watch. The Mark Fish motor sport prepped Mk 1 Clio on Touring car TB's was quick as well qualifying 3rd behind the Mini and the Skoobie, it's just a shame he has electrica problems. Once he has it sorted I reckon hell be giving them a run for their money.

The circuit seems to be suffering a little on lack of entries at the moment so anyone who fancies a sprint on a real drivers circuit I am sure Mark can put up the next set of regs up.

Fantastic for spectators too you can see virtually the whole circuit from one position 8)

It's the best spectator circuit in the country.
The Rallycross there is great as well.

some upcoming regs for future sprints. As Simon said, entries (race mainly) are at a low right (not that it gets any easier to win anything!) now and these events are struggling. Anyone contemplating competing need to try and get some entries in to show there is still support enough for the organisers to continue.
The next Lydden is a 2.75 lap event yet the entry fee is the same a usual so good value for money and you get to see the race meeting in the afternoon, Lydden also allow you to camp in the paddock overnight so those who dont like the early start can arrive and set up on Friday evening.

Lydden 9th July 2.75 lap sprint regs are (and Goodwood and Brands Hatch.)
here and you can even enter online here

Debden 10th July regs and postal entry form are here
Debden is often over subscribed, so be sure to enter quickly to be assured of a place.
I know a few of you have licences and all the nessesary so no excuses!

Ayone doing Gurston Hillclimb on Sun July 17?
Entries close this Friday, I spoke with the entry sec and there are still plenty of places, and you do NOT need to be in a championship to enter, unless they get oversubscribed, which he very much doubts at all.
I'm sending off an entry tomorrow.

Cedric, how about you,
Mr Hillier, are you out there?
Si21, sell some old tat on fleebay, it's only £95 to enter.
Mr Dell, you have a few race cars, and I know you have a Helmet too.
EastMark, it's only Salisbury, very well organised just like Prescott
Geoff, you said you wanted to do a few events, this is a great spectator venue too.

WOW, we could have 4 GTAs competing???
