ZOLDER WSR 30th APRIL CONFIRMED

Postby stephendell » Thu Apr 14, 2005 8:46 am

OK, this trip is on :D & I have most of the information for the day which I will post on the events page ASAP as pdf for download.

http://www.renaultalpine.co.uk/Events.htm

Deadline for entries to me is 21st April.

I already have registration forms from Tony Smith and Tony Law.

I will place the forms for download on the events page of the main forum. If you are interested please complete the registration form and return it to me with payment for £10 ASAP. (Yes I know it says 10 euros but at this stage I'm covering myself for the inevitable additional fees e.g. expensive faxes to Belgium!). For club details enter www.renaultalpine.co.uk

Registration fee is per car so I'm guessing most of you will travel 2-up to share costs inc petrol, shuttle etc.

Ideally you could complete one and return it to me on Monday 18th April at the Ace Cafe.

To save money I propose that we make this an extended daytrip that way we can book a flexible ticket with Eurotunnel for £40. An overnight stay makes this much more expensive. If you want to do this you can and the hotel we stayed at last year has a few rooms.

If you want to display your car, do the parade lap and get the goody bag and the bronze trophy we need to be there before 10am (so probably should aim for 9.00am). According to the programme we will not be able to leave before 7.00pm.

Apart from Simon (who will probably leave at 8.00am) I am suggesting the following travel times:

www.eurotunnel.com

****With regard to train times we may be safer with the 3.03am (check in 2.33am) arrive 4.48am****This now allows us four hours journey time. Motorway route is 180 miles.

Return 11.45pm shuttle. Check in latest 11.15pm. Arrive Folkestone 11.20pm. This allows us four hours journey time.

These times are flexible. If we arrive back earlier (Simon!) then we can travel earlier.

Please don't book until at least a couple of us have agreed these times and then we can all travel together. Do you think we should leave one train earlier?

Your car will be on display along with the Renault Historic Collection and must be clean. I will need to submit photos of any extensively modified cars for approval so if you feel you have one please send me a picture now!

So far:

Myself
Tony Law
Tony Smith
Joe Salama
Graham Hainke
Paul Sage
Dave Williams
Shadi Eddin
Andrew Holt
Rupert Lloyd?
Simon Taylor?

Anyone else?

If there is a question mark by your name please could you confirm ASAP.

With regard to train times we may be safer with the 3.03am (check in 2.33am) arrive 4.48am

The event starts at 9.05 am. This would allow 4 hours journey time instead of 3. What do you all think? Too early?

With regard to the return journey the ticket is fully flexible, if we get back earlier we travel earlier, no fee.

DEPART 3.03am (check in 2.33am) arrive 4.48am

Stephen,

In order to spend a couple of extra hours in my warm bed on Friday night, I'll be making tracks to get the 04:15 morning shuttle from Folkestone rather than the 03:03 night time shuttle.

Hopefully the roads will be clear and I'll make excellent progress for the first hour or so before skirting round Brussels and then up to Zolder at a lesser pace in a bit of traffic I guess.

If anyone misses the 03:03, then they are welcome to join me on the 04:15 dash.

See you @ Zolder.

Sorry Simon, I'm going for the less fraught journey! Also means more help if it breaks down.

rupert, is your GTA on the road now or are you taking the Spider with your bargain handbrake?
Availability for 04:15 worked for me at lunchtime today.

Just got home, and my parking pass and paddock pass have arrived from Renault with an exclusive Gala dinner invitaion to be attended by celebrity drivers including JP Jassaud, Arnoux and Tambay.

ROUTE

Postby stephendell » Wed Apr 27, 2005 10:38 pm

Andrew Holt lives near Brussels and has advised the following route.

The best route is

From Calais(A16 in France) (A18 in Belgium) towards Ostend (A10 once passed Ostend)and on to Brussels it’s a straight road with only one bend at Ostend for 120 miles,

Then north around the Brussels ring direction Zaventem airport then rejoin the E40 (A3) towards Leuven,

Just before Leuven take the E314 (A2) straight to Zolder and it’s exit 27 for the circuit.

Don’t go anywhere near Antwerp!

We are planning on meeting Andy at the Texaco just before Brussels at around 6.30am. Then we can follow him the rest of the way and (hopefully) avoid getting lost this year!

Texaco is easy to find as you pass Junction 20 you can see the sign it’s massive.

Andrew Holt, good route. I'm on the later shuttle and guessing that Brussells is 120 miles from Calais. I am hoping to make that in just over the hour. Are you able to advise of any serious hazards that I should be aware of, like speed traps and unmarked cars etc. I'm also guessing that the road to Brussells will be clear but arounf the Brussells ring it will be more congested and hopefully better up to Zolder. Maybe 2 to 2.5 hours in total or am I smoking some-thing very wackey ? 8) 8) 8)
