RAOC Southern Meet @ Surrey Quays Monday 20th October

Postby stephendell » Mon Oct 20, 2014 8:00 am

First winter meet for 2014.

As many of you know the old venue has closed down but there are other restaurants in the retail park or close by walking distance.

We were considering just staying with the ACE a while but attendance drops off so much from October. Even the September meet was quite poorly attended so we have decided to stick with the usual format as far as possible.

So the plan is to hold the RAOC meet @ Surrey Quays on Monday 20th October from 7.30pm.

Please park outside the old venue "The Quays" Flaming grill pub SE16 7LW. It's safe patrolled parking and plenty available.

We will then walk over to the alternate venue which will be confirmed on here shortly but will either be:

Frankie & bennys
Pizza Hut
Wetherspoons
The curry garden

If you have any strong preference please indicate but so far assuming they can accommodate us the curry garden seems to be the popular choice with people that have spoken to me.

Apologies for the delay with info.

Wetherspoons for VFM but cannot think they would stand for pushing tables together and their policy is not to take reservations.
Pizza hut - not for me really. feel like we are intruding on a kids party.
F & B's ok
Curry house, ok but seemed to serve very small portions if my previous visit is anything to go by and can they cope with a large booking without prior arrangement? also not much choice if anyone doesn't want curry's.
never thought I would want a list but now find myself needing one just to remind me: Clio V6 230, 5 gt turbo, 5 Gordini turbo, Megane RS 300 Trophy.

Agree with Marks sentiments above plus FB has Gluten Free meals for those people have specific dietry reqirements ...

They also do a deal on week days main meal and either starter or pudding for £12ish or you can pay what you want off the msin menu

Curry house ok for booking but don't think there will be many of us.

Wetherspoons ok to push tables together but maybe more suited to a drink afterwards.

So far:

Curry x 5
F&B x 2
Wetherspoons x 1
Trafic, Twingo GT, Vel Satis Turbo x 2, Clio V6 Proto Ph2, Vel Satis 3.5, Avantime, Alpine A610, GTA Atmo x 3, GTA Turbo x 3, R5 Gordini Turbo Mid Engine, Alpine A310 4cyl, Alpine A110, Yellow Smart
