Red GTA £10k. Local to me although never seen it on the road before. Are prices on the up?

I'm sure the red one with the red leather belonged to a guy in Whitley bay, who sold it a couple of years back for around £4k.

There have been several R5 Alpine/Le Car Turbos on recently, with asking prices which surprised me as a newcomer.

Just this one left on at the moment at £10,995 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RENAULT-5-ALP ... 3cf1e87911

Was this formerly one of Phildini's fleet? Looks superb!

Did Terry buy the Le Car we were talking about at the Northern meet?

Perhaps most surprising was the project car imported from Sweden, with almost every panel damaged & limited info regarding engine & transmission, with an asking price of £2495. Did anyone on here take this one on?

Makes me think it's well worth me putting a couple of grand into mine over the next year or so - will definitely be reviewing the agreed value insurance come renewal time :up

The R5 Alpine used to belong to Roy Smith of C.A.R. and author of several books about Alpines.
I saw the car a couple of years ago and it looked a very good example.
I also believe that Stephen Dell either owned the car or had some involvement in the car prior to Roy's ownership.

As Clee rightly says the asking prices are on the up the cars that sell are the ones priced sensibly.

Thanks for the info John. I had heard from Phildini that a white one formerly owned by him was up for sale & wondered if it was this one. I am saving the pics so I know what to aim for with mine (even though I believe the decals are wrong!)

Just seen this on Autotrader, with coincidentally a reg number 59 earlier than mine

What they are advertised for and what they actually go for are two separate things.

Dell Boy usually knows all the selling prices of recent Alpines.

The red one is at a pawn shop in Chester which is on TV (History channel on sky I think) so it might get a showing on TV!

I understand that Martin, and totally agree. The point is though, that even optimistic advertised prices can be a useful tool in getting appropriate Agreed Value Insurance, which I guess most of us have. Mr Dell is an incredible resource, and I certainly wish I had access to someone similar 10 years ago. As you may know, we used to have an ultra-rare '68 Porsche 912 soft-window Targa, in which I encountered a pool of spilled diesel exiting a roundabout in the pouring rain, and reversed into a car coming the other way. The Agreed Value wasn't enough to cover repairs, thanks to the insurance company asking an in insane 30% of the value for the salvage & no matter how hard I tried, we had to let it go. When these cars come up for sale now, they are in the £40-50K range, whilst we remain in the bargain basement of classic & modern classic ownership.

So, the lesson is to keep up to date with values - in the event of a mishap it could be the difference between keeping and losing your pride & joy

Yes it was mine for quite a while and I sold it to Roy.

Very nice car and has done a few laps of the Nurburgring as well lol

Had a new gearbox after that little outing...
