GTA insurance

Postby turbodog » Thu May 12, 2005 12:33 pm

I have just had my renewal notice for classic car insurance on my GTA Turbo. I am insured with Carole Nash as I know a number of you are as well. My premium has gone up from £220 to £645. I have never made a claim. I rang them to query the price increase and was informed that they would no longer consider a GTA to be a classic car and that in future only cars built before 1975 would be considered. If you are also insured with Carole Nash you may be in for a surprise when you receive your renewal notice.

have a look at Aon Classic car Ins. They have a web site and a number of different types of cover. Usually a decent price.

I too was with Carole Nash till recently, premium went from £155 upto £565. I was told that they no longer consider the GTA to be a classic car. I reminded them that this is a 2nd car, give details of daily driver and also about limited milage. After referring to the underwritter, premium then dropped to £259. I went over to AON at £265 in principle.

Has anyone tried classicline Insurance?
Iam with them at the mo on my Esprit. My first Esprit not garaged in scouseland for £295 (with all mods notified).
Now I have an S4s (300BHP as standard) for £442 not garaged 5000 miles, breakdown etc. This includes the mods I've done to this car as well.

Hopefully when I get my Alpine (whichever model) I will get a good price from them.
I used to be with Footman James until their premiums started to increase!

Guys you should try Footman James, I have my GTA turbo and my two Gordini 5 insured under one policy for £344, fully comp with agreed valuation on all three. Also i have added the 5 Turbo2 for just an extra £150, again agreed valuation, they are very good, I have been with them for three years now.

Hi, on the insurance front for my GTA Turbo I'm with Equity Red Star through Lynbrook Insurance and have been for three years now (telephone 0870 608 1936)

Annual Cost Fully Comprehensive is £261.00 and this includes Legal Expenses Cover & UK and Continental Breakdown with Europ Assist.
Limited mileage of 5,000 mile per annum. Also includes a buy back option if repairs exceed value of car.
Hope that this helps.
Regards, Barry.
