The A610 belongs to Ben Griffiths. It's already for sale on the site & yes it does look like a nice one!

The A610 did not meet its reserve with the highest bid of £11,000 must have wanted £12,000 or over.

Given that so few late examples of the A610 were produced in RHD does anyone know how many still exist in metalic blue??

I heard the blue car with the cream re-trim may be for sale again if you really want blue. I have the contact details.

The Gentlemans have 2 in blue, Martyn has 1. Fairly sure Tim Jeffrey's is blue. In fact a lot of the late A610's were blue and red, following on from the spate of early yellow cars.

Tim Jeffrey probably has the exact numbers if you email or pm him.

Hi, I'm the one with the red A610 on ebay. Reserve was set at £12000. Have got a fair bit of genuine interest but still have it at the moment. I'll keep you posted with what happens next.

I've previously had 2 blue A610's before. (L5 GEO and L6 TEN), don't know if there are still about.

Blue A610s

Postby Tim Jeffrey » Sat Mar 05, 2005 7:19 pm

Reference colours on register, there are (15) blue most being late numbers. Yellow was the most popular colour (11), in early numbers as most of the press cars came in it.
Red was the most in all years (20), green including Magny Cours (10).
The rarest is black (1) which lives in Southend
The C.A.R. A610 register has 58 0f the 67 R/H cars on it. Some went abroad.
Anyone competing this year? I am doing the TWMC All Cicuit Sprint Championship again in the A610 and would enjoy company or I am prepared to travel if there's a crowd.

Tim, I'm very interested, and I've heard nothing back from Paul at CAR. Anyway, comparing the TWMC venues with last yeras CAR venues, TWMC seems much closer to home, Farnham Surrey, mostlyLydden Hill, and a few at Goodwood and Brands Hatch.

Do I take it that I need to be a member of a motor club as listed within the regs?. What do I need to do to "prepare" a standared GTA to compete, apart from a helmet and timing strut? I've applied for an MSA licence national B and I'm a CAR mamber, is that not recognised by the TWMC? Maybe CAR is in a different regional assosiation?

thanks in advance, I hope to make Lydden on the 2nd to see what it's all about.

As long as you are part of an MSA registered club you are eligible to com pete. Apart from helmet suit and stut, you need a clearly marked on/off on your ignition and if you have a sunroof it needs to have some tape round it in case it shatters. Your tyres will also need to comply with MSA lists. Normally road cars need list 1a tyres, but I know some championships (such as the Scottish sprint) allow list 1b tyres too. Check it out as list 1b are a seriously big advantage. You also need clearly marked numbers to identify your competition number...a lot of events will sell them to you at signing on (normally at extortionate prices) but you can buy a big pack of either white or black for £9.99 from motorsport suppliers and they'll do you for a season or 2. The MSA recommends a rollcage (extra weight....no thanks!!) and fire extinguisher (see roll cage comment! :D), but its not compulsary and all marshalls have them....also if you dont pick the correct type Ive had marshalls make me remove them!!!!!

The best thing you can do is get the blue book out when your licence arrives and study it! You will also pick up contact addresses for the event organising clubs. Ideally if you want to do the whole series you should join the organising club or at least contact them to register for the championship, that way you will get regs for all the events delivered to your door with no extra work. Shouldnt cost a lot....normally £5-10 for championship registration. When you register they will send you their own championship class list and any special instructions. For instance in my series they insist that road cars have all seats fitted and all interior trim, where as other series only specify retaining the seats. (or even just 1 seat). There will probably be a web site for the organising club as most now have them. Look it up!

Sprinting..

Postby paulg » Tue Mar 08, 2005 11:21 pm

I'd be interested in doing some sprinting in my GTA too as I've done some track days at Donington and loved every minute of it. Already have my helmet, booties and MSA license.. just need to get on with it I suppose.
Keep us posted...
