Find it hard to believe that its worth £500 without an engine and the state its in. If anyone does buy it, let me know....I need a few bits and bobs!

£500 quid GTA!

Postby darrenbiggs » Mon Jul 26, 2004 6:08 pm

I saw this one yesterday when the auction started.

I'm sure the starting price was £ 400. When I had a look today no-one has bid on it but the opeing price seems to have moved up to £ 500.
Maybe I'm just going slightly mad.

It would seem an interesting base for a project car if you wanted a rolling chassis (assuming it rolls!) and had lots of spare space, spare time, spare cash........

You could stick the Le Mans bodywork on, uprate the suspension, brakes and then put in a heavily reworked engine. 3.0L with big T4, 24 valve 3.0 take your pick.

It was always £500. It's also advertised on the main site.

It looks like a wreck to me...Ive offered to buy the dials and stering wheel cowling. Perhaps if enough people email him after parts he'll take the hint and act as our personal scrapyard :D Surely no one will pay £500 for it......you can get one with an engine for £2 -3000, so why pay £500 for 1/2 a car thats in sh*t condition!

Ah but glass can be got on insurance for £50 excess (I'm doing it now!).....as for the panels....I believe you can get bumpers new, dont know about the others, but I bet you can get them from somewhere without landing yourself a shell to get rid of and transport costs from the far end of Devon. Time will tell, I suppose someone may buy it to break and hope to sell enough parts to recoup the costs.

Don't know if that engine would have been very good anyway as there looks like some smoke damage under the rear wing - another one of those famous rubber fuel hose/hot engine/insufficent cooling fires all GTA owners dread!
