Turbo wanted - Garret T3?

Postby Jonathan Owen » Sun Jun 27, 2004 12:23 pm

Hi everyone - I'm rebuilding a 1988 turbo GTA that needs lots of TLC and a new turbo. For some bizarre reason it has been fitted with what I was told is a turbo off a Montego (remember them? - I'd rather not) so I need a T3 or better - tatty would be OK so I could send it off for a rebuilt exchange. Any suggestions welcomed. :?

R u after standard or upgraded? I'm about to buy a new hybrid turbo so my standard one will be up for grabs....its in fine fettle, as the engine was only rebuilt 3 or 4 thousand miles ago.

Was it your car in ARR a couple of weeks ago where the water feed for the turbo had been taken off the expansion bottle return?

I have a nearly new hybrid T3

Postby Tony Smith » Sun Jun 27, 2004 9:46 pm

Hi there, if your after a turbo I have a hybrid T3 on my GTA which will shortly be coming off when my new engine goes in. Its about 3 years old but has done a couple of thousand miles at most. Supplied and fitted by Van AAken dev's in Bracknell. Have receipt etc and could be tried before you buy if you wanted. Made 258 bhp at 1.1 bar when fitted. Looking for about 275 quid but may haggle or swap for other Renault bits.

I'm interested in a standard - let me know when and how much: <jonathan.owen@quarterbridge.net> The idea is to get the standard rig up and running, and source a spare engine to modify as cash permits.

Yes - never buy a car off a penniless motorbike racer at the end of the season!

Tony: Thanks but no thanks - I'm after a standard set up first.
