Wanted....trim bit thats bugging me!

Postby peterg » Tue Jun 15, 2004 9:32 pm

I realise this is a long shot, but I am looking for the plastic trim bit that fits above and around the heater/fan controls. The tabs have all snapped off mine, so my controls are now independant of the centre consol!

Anyone got the plastic casing that goes under the steering wheel and clips onto the dash/clocks surround (round the steering column)? Mine is quite badly cracked.

No longer available new. Can be fixed by plastic welding & then refinishing.

If looking for one 2nd hand there are two types. One with a slot for stereo controls one without. If you buy one without it's quite easy to cut the slot in, but not so easy to fill if you don't need it.

Also 2 finishes. Early car silver/grey paint. Late car black rubber paint.

Where would you get the correct shade of silver/grey ???

Has anyone managed to find a spray product that matches ??

Also, I bought a trim repair kit from a company called frost and some black rubber paint.

The rubber paint is mainly for bringing window seals back to life, so I dont think it will be any good for plastic.

But anyway back to the trim repair kit, has anyone ever used one ???

Heres the link to there website.

And heres a link to some plati dip black spray. I think it will be too shiny though.

The black plasti dip spray is expensive but perfect for re-finishing the rubber coating on late GTA trim. Bonds to well prepared plastic perfectly.
