Yes there are 2 but they are not in the best of condition, they need recovering to be honest.

Have you not got a standard one or is yours a bit ropey also?

Yea I have one but its well abused. looks crap.. any chance of a photo? God knows how I would go about recovering it? Only other choice, is an after market one, but I like the feel of the standard one..

Steering wheel

Postby careon » Fri Oct 07, 2011 1:32 pm

Hi Martin - Still no MOT but spent a bit more time (when wife is out), slowly moving forward - The car is basically sound but has been bodged in a few areas.
Steering wheel is good but has a crack on the aluminium inner spline clamp and I think the bolts have been put in the wrong holes (in the elongated ones), I think this is the issue Clarkson was going on about. would send a picture if I knew how, the wheel itself is OK - Just the nut behind the wheel is the problem.
also
-Flimsy plastic cover in the luggage area above the heater/ battery, some strange reason I have the actual battery cover.
-rear most centre console oddments lid.
- Windscreen washer jets
- Wheel key
- Rear upper plastic cover / grill
- Rear lower plastic cover / grill
-would like a replacement HiFi as someone has cut the sliders off !
- Door cards have also been bodged - black interior.

Anyone know how to replace the bulb in the computer, also shows I have 18.7 g in the tank, is this likely to be the sender, if so does anyone know what resistance the empty and full should be for a replacement.

The instrument panel has to be removed, and you will see from the pic below where the bulb is....pull the holder out of the "hole", replace bulb, push back into "hole" and with the LH large connector attached, ign on, rotate the white plastic bulb holder to get an even back light illumination over the computer face.

does anyone know what resistance the empty and full should be for a replacement.

Are we asking the resistance of the Tank Sensor? if so...... what year is the Alp?

With regard to the 18.7 reading....suggest you type "fuel gauge" into the search facility......its all there.

PS. The bolts on the steering wheel are supposed to be in the elongated holes as this offers incremental adjustment to get the wheel in the right rotation for mid steering position.

Heyup,

Are you the guy who bought the Blue ATMO that I was speaking to a while back?

OK Parts:

Flimsy plastic cover in the luggage area above the heater/ battery, some strange reason I have the actual battery cover. Got an Air Con one?
-rear most centre console oddments lid. Should have one
- Windscreen washer jets Need to check (I have to find one for another member first)
- Wheel key Not sure
- Rear upper plastic cover / grill - Yes
- Rear lower plastic cover / grill - No
-would like a replacement HiFi as someone has cut the sliders off ! No
- Door cards have also been bodged - black interior. Maybe

Did you want body panels as well if you are the same guy?

Cheers,

Martin

Yes, that's me, before I realised there was such a large following for these cars and you were just a chancer with a few bits - just thought it was me that was a bit strange.
Yep blue ATMO. The body parts, unless in blue aren't necessary as I don't know what the MOT will throw up, the front has had a nudge and looks like someone sprayed it with a can so the colours not great and the finish worse but all the parts are there so will be OK for an MOT.
If there is nothing to serious with the MOT it will be worth replacing the bumper and nosecone with a newly sprayed one.

Parts
No aircon - is the cover much different.
Also front offside bonnet strut bracket to inner wing.
Steering wheel boss - the wheels OK see picture.

Thanks for the help JohnC and si21, will get the bulb done on Sunday - The wife says she is going out - I guess I need to take the wheel off to get the dash out, thats when I spotted the above - the wheel wont budge as I think the splines are mashed.

Just noticed threads in picture, can run a couple of bolts down those - guess that is why they are there.

Yes, you need two bolts of the right thread (sorry don`t actually know the size.....but someone here will advise) then having removed the two bolts in the elongated holes, run the other bolts into the threads and as they tighten up....off pops the steering wheel.
Tip....having removed the binnacle over the instruments, smear the plastic clips with a bit of silicon grease...it will help in replacing and removing in future....it also stops them squeaking.
