My original Brown cap was manufactured by ACDelco, so I have emailed them detailing dates & colours etc, but whether I get a response from them or not......Watch this space  .....although from what Andrew says I suggest that Renault after a while found that the Brown cap on the Turbo...due to higher engine temperature...was releasing the pressure too soon, so they fitted a slightly higher rating pressure cap ...the Blue one...in their later models...... thats assuming the Blue one is the higher rating, which to me makes sense. I just cannot see why they would fit a lower pressure cap to an engine that gets hotter, and therefore requires a higher pressure cap, noting that the higher the pressure, the higher the boiling point will be.

I've got an '86 turbo and it's always had a blue cap - see the road test section for confirmation.

bigger... missed this.

Needless to say my expansion has just split!

General consensus seems to be get one from Renault then?

Part No 77 01 2032 21...

I'll give it a try.

Perhaps I'm going to need a lead on a water pump. We'll see.

If you get no joy with Renault, head over to Simon Auto online.

Got one in a matter of a couple of days - no cap, mind you. Great to be able to see the coolant through the plastic again (rather than having to open the cap!)

I have heard mixed feedback regarding the Jeep expansion tanks, a few have split I believe. Has anyone had no issues? I still have mine that I may fit next year.

I don't think it's the necessarily Jeep ones that are the problem, it's the dodgy cheap thermo-plastic remoulds..... Jeep or otherwise.

Check the stub in the middle that acts at the max filling level, that's different on the refabricated ones.

Mine went on and came off about a week later after it kept ballooning up and eventually split. :down
I'm just here for the gasoline.

The one I received today from jeepchryslerparts.co.uk had a Crown Automotive manufacture sticker on the bag ...and it seems pretty robust/well made...it has a slightly beige hue..has an internal level gauge..and seems to be thermoset..and unlikely to deform with temp/pressure. The crown website states a 12 month guarantee on their parts...but I'll hang on the the old stained one for a bit when it is changed..just in case...
