Postby clee » Sun Jul 07, 2013 11:30 am

I need to order at least one pair from Simon so would anyone else like in on a set ? Might not get a big discount ,dependent on volume ,but you will save a lot on the shipping .

.
If it works out at better than 20% off, I'll have a set. I don't pay the 19% euro VAT, so if better than that, it's worth it init

We ordered a couple up and can confirm they are identical to RHD. seems a lot of work to only replace 2 of 3 rusty pipes to save £100 and then to have to go back and replace the third one (engine out again etc). Maybe give people the option, personally I think they would be crazy not to change them all. Same metal, same car, same coolant, same level of corrosion? But then when people are buying seals, bushes and decal in singles rather than pairs you may be fighting a losing battle!

Maybe the smaller ones don't corrode as much? What have been the state of any you have looked at?

Just had a look at the old steel pipes that came off the A310. I'd say the amount of corrosion was probably similar for the large and small pipes but because the smaller pipes were originally less wall thickness than the larger pipes, there's less metal left on these pipes.

Thanks Simon ,will be in touch .

As to the small pipe .Most seem fine and although 100 is not much in the grand scheme it all does add up and sometimes you have to make a judgement .
I regularly have 4/5k parts bills ( incl weld bill ) on a single car so you can see why .The small pipe can be bypassed ,taken out the circuit if needed so nowhere near as critical as the mains .The heater side of things normally ends with failure of the matrix and dash out ......
But yes ....I would say if you have the new batch then perhaps think long and hard about adding the smaller and then you will be 100% .
