Edit .............YES :!:

That's bloody stupid ,whats the point in having a std rule book :?:

You need to get the blue book...most championships run to it!

lee, not quite......

There are 3 main classes for us.

1st is "pure standard". I think the only thing you can do is have 1 extra inch of girth to your tyres. Normally no sub classes for engine capacities. Some champs/events do not run this class.

2nd is "roadgoing". Me & peterg too. Has to have standard suspension layout, oringinal block, gearbox and diff in original positions. must have interior, wheels are free, induction is free, must retain glass windows, etc etc. There are sub classes for upto 1400cc, upto 2000cc and over 2000cc.

3rd is "modified", because you can not fit into roadgoing. You must have a roll bar. Pete Ellens falls here , cos his A110 is uprated block for 1300 to 1500 and he has to have a cage, as he does. Tony Smiths Black GTA car would be here because of the 3.0 L block.

Road going is what I run....same as on Simons list (its MSA regs).
It can get complicated though.....most championships have their own versions. Wigton have allowed list 1b tyres this year, the Scots allow list 1b and stripped interiors, in Yorkshire (BARC) aluminium chassis cars cant run in road car classes (gye bye Elise  )
I take it youre thinking of dabbling then Lee????

Will have to see how things go  Lots of other commitments ,3 to be precise
I looked at the midland speed champ website ,they don't allow owt in std except for tyre width ,no exhaust/intake mods ,but uprated dampers are OK :?
They run a lot of events but dont seem to have a lot of competitors in the relevant classes .

Lee, I know it says "modified" but I would be in class 1C, it makes reference to L11 (which is where I am with free wheels etc). If your GTA is bog std, then you could go in the SC class. The RAC Blue Book does not really mention the STANDARD class at all.

I'll get a copy of section L to you.

These are all the same questions I bobbarded peterg with at the start of the season, he kept telling me "don't worry, untill you start beatting all the fast cars". At the end of the day, by entering a class, you are declareing that you comply with the class regs. Some of them are a little open to interpritation.

Even in really anal clubs they only worry about minor transgressions when you start winning things. Tyres are the first thing people complain about. The other point to mention is that very very very few people know what a GTA came with as standard! I havent had to use it yet with the GTA, but when confonted with something that is borderline the reply to use is 'factory option'!!!!! Obviously that wont wash if youre running a 5.7L V8, but for odds and sods that youve done that dont matter to anyone it usually swings it....its amateur motorsport and generally very friendly.

They dont, but the regs state 'induction is free'. There is a 1.4 co-efficient for running it, but that makes no odds as Wigton only run 2 prod. car classes.

My ART twin exit straight through exhaust is therefore for sale! It is in solid condition, although I have painted it matt black as the chrome on the exhaust ends had faded so much. It would be easy enough to get them re-chromed or to add chrome tail pipes. Sounds absolutely fantastic.

Pete, it's fitted to my car now, it makes a great burrrrble on idle and not very noisy while cruising, silent at high speed.

I was sprinting at Lydden again today and I got plenty of compliments about the roar under load as well as the fantastic squeal on the over run.

It certainly frees up the motor at the top end and feels like it gets to the red line a bit quicker.

I'm well pleased with it :D :D :D
