GTA Rear Glass catch

Postby jules » Sun Dec 30, 2018 6:52 pm

Hi All,

One side of my rear glass mechanism has stopped working so the glass is only held on one side. It looks like the catch has come off a spring or something. Does anyone know how this part works or have a spare working one for sale?

Ta...

Hi Jules

This pic from the parts list may help you identify all the bits. Worth checking item 13 which links the two catches ...... it may have come unclipped at one end ....... or disappeared altogether. :o

Hi John,

Hows things? I hope you and the family are well... Did you have a good xmas?

That picture is better than the one I had. It could well be item 13 that is the issue. The component that has failed is the item not tagged in your picture.

I was looking at the Simon Auto parts pdf and its item 201101 that has seemed to become disconnected so I'll go and check tomorrow

Thanks :up

Hi Jules,

All good over here Thank's. :up
The reason it is not tagged in the Parts book, is that the two catches are identical, and therefore for ordering, one would use the part number for item 5 in the picture for either catch. But the pic should help you solve your problem. I find these exploded diagrams are most useful for this type of thing. :up

Hi Jules and John. Did this ever get resolved? Mine has done the same on the passenger side.

Small spring which pulls the catch open again has snapped at the end. Question is whether I'd be able to find a suitable spring anyway, and if so be able to fit it, or whether it's better to try to source a new catch entirely.

Right. All good. Managed to bend the final coil on the broken end of the spring to form a roughly square section using my tiny needle nose pliers to match the other end.

Then worked out where it went.

Cleaned with brake cleaner and re-attached.
