I really must get an extinguisher for the GTA

A friend of mine used to work as an engineer for the MOD/DRA.

They had a magnesium fire once that was so hot (3000+ C) that it split the water based liquid that was initially used to try to extinguish it into base components - hydrogen and oxygen Apparently the fire brigade boys got quite a shock from that one as it was a specialist liquid that was meant to be stable up to massive temps!

Moral of the story is never use water based extinguishers on magnesium fires. If you've got mag alloys I guess it's best to stand well back.

Like clee I'm feeling that it is a very good insurance item, when you got it you don't need it, hopefully. I bet Mr Jon would be interested too?

How about a 1.75 litre lifeline unit, 380mm x 110mm with mounting bracket and quick release clip. Someone please check it will fit in the passenger footwell.

Standard price is £55 each with £4.95 P&P, but free P&P for 4 items, I can distribute at ACE easily.

If we have a group buy, perhaps up to 10 we can ask for a better cost and/or get them sent out to individual addresses too.

I just called them and got a "car club group buy" price for 10, £46.40 each but all 10 would have to go to the same address.
Perhaps they would conceed at £50 aech with individual delivery, but there is no point asking usless there is 10 yes's.

To expensive I think ,DG must be able to get a better price ,he's a bit secretive tho

might even reduce the insurance premium through the RAOC insurance scheme with AON???

perhaps 1.75 is not enough and 2 is needed and/or 2.4 litres is best???
But they must weigh in at about 3kgs or more???

I've got a fully plumbed in job on the race spider and it's a good thing to have and easy to fit, you can have manual or auto release systems, obviously depending on how much you want to spend.... but what price is a fireball

Are we talking plumbed in extinguishers or a portable hand extinguisher? I've already got a portable hand extinguisher I keep in the passenger footwell.
