Heyhoe dudes
I've tried to play my mp3 player via a cassette gismo on standard hifi and get a whooooosh when I accelerate
my alarm (crook) fitter says its cos the hifi is old.
Some1 else said it was about 'suppression' and the earth to the aerial was shot??
Any suggestions?

It could be a bad earth (very probable on a plastic car!) causing the interference. Try cleaning the earth contacts around the stereo (although it could be any earth strap causing the problem)
