Wing Mirror

My nearside wing mirror is trying to go away on a holiday !
I've had a quick search on the Forum and I know at least one owner has had a similar issue. But I couldn't see an answer to the question of how do you take the mirror off it's mount. i.e. looking at the diagram below, the part number 22 has a bracket with what looks like a spring loaded pin. Is it a case of depressing the pins on either end to remove the mirror?

I have a spare damaged mirror which I can use to replace any broken parts, but I'm not certain how to dismantle without damaging it.

It should just push in.

On the early mirrors the spring loaded bracket is integral plastic and can break.

On the later mirrors the bracket is separate and metal but the pins of the spring loaded mechanism corrode and seize.

If you have an earlier type with broken plastic lugs you will need to replace it with a good one or change to the later type. To avoid repainting a mirror you can saw off the broken plastic lugs and screw the later metal type on instead.

Make sure the spring loaded pins are freely moving and lubed up before fitting.
