The Fasa A108 made £10,700. Lets see if the buyer was genuine!

There once was a ugly duckling...................

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1987-RENAULT- ... SwAvJXCrG3

£3k and no bids? Looks like an honestish seller 'cos if I'd sold it and whoever came for it backed out they'd had a gob full !
You bid to buy, apologies to anyone on here if it was you who backed out,( no idea of the circumstances) but.............an auction is an auction, that's why Ebay is messing some values up.

Anyways this car ain't getting much attention and I haven't seen it and have no connection to the seller, but if I was in the area I'd give it the once over.
The presentation for anything other than for a spares and repairs scrap heap is woeful but, look closer and there are a few pointers that despite being filthy and parked in a waterlogged field this could be a decent buy.
Everything at least looks present, engine bay is OE, no bits of daft pipe or cable ties, interior is all there including carpets that are not too green, it's an early car without all the tat, numbers on the speedo are low, it's had rear sub work, whether it's any good is unknown but blasting will have shown up thin parts.

I might be way off the mark with this one, and shiny paint sells cars, but a proper wash, some wax and a silver aerosol on the wheels and a vac out parked on a gravel drive and this one would sell for good money.

There will be issues, that's a given, but at least people are being honest and sensible when they come to light.
It's even got a ticket, so a bid, a train ticket, a gallon of water and carrier bag of tools and you could have it on the drive!
Compare it to the red one at 6k, that looks like the scrapyard dog has slept in the drivers footwell and it looks even better value.

Presentation, presentation, presentation, why would anyone pay six grand for a car that looks like when you went for it you'd get murdered and put in an old ice cream van to be found in ten years time. :angel

Wise words Ryan, hopefully someone will buy it and enjoy it.

In other news anyone want to save this from the Butcher of Sandbach (i.e me). Trying to find a buyer for it complete otherwise it will get broken. It needs quite a bit of welding but will make a nice car eventually. The way prices are going this could be the last cheap one. It's at RATS so feel free to have a mooch or get Lee's honest opinion. Price negotiable for a good home.

Is that really a J reg?

If so it must have been one of the last ones held back by the dealers... a few were.

Doesn't look too bad.

Is there any history with it ?

How many miles ?

How many owners ?

When I should be concentrating on the car I have, it makes no sense at all, but hey ! :crazy

Hi Paul, good questions which should have been in the ad so I've edited it.

Yes it is a J Darren, must have sat in a showroom somewhere. Before Andrew died he got a bit excited about it but then found the actual chassis number was about 40 cars from the end. His own car and Merlin were the latest he ever found (Both 1991 H plates).

SOLD.

Chap from Germany came over with a bum bag full of Deutschmarks.

I suppose with the Euro exchange rate in their favour our Alpines look cheap again. Shame it's not stayed in the UK but at least it's going to be restored and used again.

I hope you persuaded him to "join up", would be good to have an Alpine friend in Germany.....especially if he can help source parts etc, or event invite us to Genman Alpine meetings, and Vice Versa, he is invited to Origine RS at Goodwood etc etc.

What more do you want for 5k?...........Probs got the usual, but a good start, looking at the miles it's been used.

I've had 3 GTA in this year with full MOT.Expert inspection recommended these days on any potential purchases. They have all reached an age where it's far more likely than not to have issues. These will not always show up on MOT as they are well hidden due to the vehicle's construction and well documented on here .

I quite like that yellow one.... If I had sold my Black one, I would get that just to save it, and get it back up to a safe standard.. Now I have finished the A610, I think I need another project.... :shhh
Just cannot see a potentally good car, not getting the love it needs.. But I agree, that it will be in need of welding!!
Just not got the space for anymore cars..... just yet!!
