GTA Turbo Engine Bay Cover - question

Hi Guys

I have noticed that the hinge brackets attached to the engine bay cover have terminals for spade connectors. What are these for?

These male terminals are connectet to a stainless steel mesch which is sandwiched and spread over the whole area of the cover which when earthed acts as a screen to surpress the engine ign etc from interference to the radio.

Thanks John, no mesh as far as I can see though? Is the mesh hidden in the cover?.

I need to identify the connection points to the mesh as I do get some interference to the radio that appears to be rev related.

It is sandwiched between two layers of GRP, so you won't see it. If no one else does it, I will post a pic of how mine is connected when I get home, at the moment the waft of warm apple strudle and black forrest gateaux is taking priorty.....sorry.

There should be a braided cable bolted to the top of the suspension strut going up to the engine cover with a large spade on the end. Obviously they are missing off your car. I will take a photo of mine as soon as I can and post it up for you.

After that I only 2 more electrical issues to sort (famous last words)

Heated rear screen is not connected and has no potential difference across the terminals on the struts, fuse is ok, need to find the relay.

Fuel gauge is a work of fiction (aren't they all)

With regard to your heated rear screen, I am not too sure if this explanation applies to the GTA as I did not bring my manuals with me, but on most cars the heating element is only connected to the battery when the engine is running. The relay coil is connected (via switch) to the altenator as the current drain is very high and could flatten the battery very quickly without the altenator supplying the current.
Might be worth checking withengine running in case this applies to the GTA.

Good idea! Why didnt I think of that!

No braided wires visible in my car near the hinges for the cover.

So I know that one end goes to the hinge, the question is where does the other end of the braided cable go?

Does it go to earth? If so would the earth points on the rear turrets do?

I assume it creates some sort of Faraday cage
