eBay shop for R5 GT Turbo

Postby PaulC1959 » Fri Mar 08, 2013 9:21 am

As per the title guys. I found this shop on eBay; they specialise in the R5 GT Turbo but sell much more. Currently on there are parts for Williams Clio, Clio 172, R21 Quadra and the GTA. It might be worth saving in your eBay favourites.

If you want to know the truth?
The real name is Carl Beamond but when I played rugby I was nick named "Bob" due to the American long jumper Bob Beamon and it has stuck ever since.
The "CGB" came from when the guys took the "wee wee" when customers phoned me at where I used to work.

Hi Bob, :-)

Have you had the 310 out yet? If you want to do a joint tune up session later on, let me know, as I'm going to be using the same phase 2 ecu electronics as yours in Will's; so opportunity to play with bin files at the same time if you wish

Not had the car out as of yet, but the weather looks better for tomorrow? Would be good to know that the car is running correctly and so let me know when you have the time to look at it. Do you know much about the car after the engine rebuild? Is it safe to drive or would it really need to be set up properly before any use?

Hi Bob,

Better weather?? Dream dream dream... well I hope so, getting tired with this current trend at this time of year :-)

After Andreas picked up the engine, he got it fitted in the car and up and running quite quickly. The gearbox was rebuilt by Mach 1, so that will be a tidy job, and that was on recommendation from Will's experience, and my gearbox followed. Incidentally if you were not aware you have a TDC set of gears.

Andreas's fitter did have some trouble with the clutch release, but that was the only issue, and nothing to do with the engine.

As to the ecu calibration, it is likely to be out, I just can't give you an idea of how close or not it will be, but likely lean. The air flow characteristic of the engine as a system has been modified quite a bit, cam spec change, valve dimensions, ports, throats etc. I had been expecting from our discussions at the time that he would trailer the car up, and we would organise checking the setup. This never happened, and the next thing I saw was it was up for sale. I must admit I was a bit disappointed at the time. I did ask Andreas to at least check the AFR, but pretty sure that didn't happen. I think Andreas did have Lambda bosses fitted to the exhaust, certainly worth checking first.

I hope that helps, and ties in with any details Andreas may have given you. Either way you are welcome to give me a call and we can chat.

I would love to see it, and hear it run :-)

Cheers,
Martin

Taken the A310 out for a bit today, takes a bit of getting used to but I think I'm finally comfortable with it.
Removed the front lower splitter and additional wings mirrors.
Not driven in anger yet but no mechanical issues to report.
Will arrange to get it trailered down to you sometime soon.
