Postby Typical Virgo » Tue Jan 08, 2013 6:19 pm

Can anyone advise as to how much NEW pair of MK1 headlights might cost, as to what someone should be paying? Many thanks for any advise given.

We usually carry them new and in stock.

They are more than £50 a pair though these days. Think it is closer to £130 - £140 pair.

Some less scrupulous sellers are asking that much each.

There were two types of R5 headlamps.

One version that took halogen bulbs H4 which are no longer available and one that took a HB12 bulb which are still available.

They are externally identical and interchangeable and both are made by Cibie. They come in Renault boxes from Renault but the glass is marked Cibie.

You must have a pair that are the same though, not one of each.

The bulb issue is no longer a problem as due to the continued populairty of older cars eg beetle you can now buy Halogen bulbs with a HB12 base like these:

BTW Super 5 headlamps are super cheap in comparison. Less than £30 each.
