Whats this Badger For??

Postby Danglydogs » Wed Aug 08, 2012 8:17 pm

As title, please see pic below, got the old girl running today, anyway this pressure switch is leaking oil worse than I dribble beer, but whats it for, no wire going to it and my Oil pressure light works. Its the sensor on left hand side of block bang in middle of photo.

Does anyone know what thread it is, ie 1/8"bsp etc? so I can get a blanking plug and whip it out then put a plug in, if it has no wire to it its not needed! :D

Do not put a blanking plug in !!!

It is a plunger type oil pressure switch that albiet redundant is crucial .There is a hole through to the timing case to allow the air behind the plunger to escape .If you remove this then the oil will just "wee wee" into the timing case and you will lose all pressure .
Later blocks have a different design and no air hole so a blanking plug can be installed .I documented this with some pics on here somewhere but atm I'm fecked if I can find the thread .....

You can't unless you change the block .....You need to keep the plunger but just put a new copper washer on it innit

well unscrewed it today and there was no copper washer on there! have put one on but still seeping slightly - it looks like the thread in block has been repaired at some point and isn't quite square.

I'll get a dowty washer, that'll seal it!
