ah.. the everlasting weight question.

the beetle is fabricated from thick german steel. we're using 0.5 / 1mm sheet, so i hope it will not exceed 2 metric tons otherwise we'll be the proud owner of the slowest sportscar ever ( beating the vw karmann ghia )

it was never meant to be fast. it is the first time we attempt someting like this and is all a learning proces. maybe next time we'll spend more time on handling and speed. this is all for looks, advertisement and knowledge.

we made an instalation made up from an old person scale. the maximum weight that the scale allowed was 120Kg so we made a lever that reduced the force 3x

weight now is somewhere about 800Kg
