Club Invite to GT battle @ Rockingham 25 June

Postby LexDakaDatsun » Fri Mar 18, 2005 11:59 am

Hi all,

This post is for a summer event all petrolheads should know about -sorry to mods if this is the wrong section

We would like to offer the Renault Alpine forum a Free club stand to showcase your cars at GT battle @ Rockingham on June 25th

It would be super if some of you would consider entering your cars in RWD class for time attack?

http://www.gtbattle.com

The site is still under construction and more info will be up in the next week –

TOTB champion Rocket Ronnie has confirmed that he will compete in the Time attack

SUMOPOWER will enter their EVO8 time attack car and 350Z Drift car

Confirmed Tuner Entries so far:

http://www.rktuning.com/

http://sumopower.com/

http://www.system-r.co.uk/

http://whifbitz.co.uk/

Many other well known have expressed interest and will be confirming shortly

The top Drift drivers from the Uk and Eire will compete in a Twin Drift Battle

http://www.rockingham.co.uk

The facilities @ Rockingham are amazing - most important a Massive covered grandstand for all spectators and unlike the Pod if it rains the action will still run

The main events are Time attack, Drift Battle and a RWYB 0-60 Traffic Light Grand Prix

There will also be a Show'nShine comp, RC drifting , 4x4 off roading and Skate and BMX displays

Spectator tickets will be £15 in advance available on the website soon or £20 on the door

RWYB ZERO-60 runs will be for 3 runs at £15

Car Clubs are able to apply via the website for FREE Car Club Stands and Block Booking Discounts

To Compete in Time Attack and Drift Battle

You will need a valid drivers license
A car in roadworthy condition
Tyres that are considered road legal in the UK, US, Europe
A crash helmet

Entry costs for the Time Attack or the Drift Battle are now confirmed at £75.

Over 5hrs of Track Time is available to competitors before the Finals:

http://www.gtbattle.com/time-attack.asp

Competetitors will receive a pair of "Access all areas" Pit Passes for the driver and his/her passenger. We also plan to allow COMPETITORS ONLY to purchase upto 4 additional Pit Passes for friends/mechanics at the reduced rate of £15each.

Do I guess right that "time-attack" is a quarter mile dash rather than 0-60?

simon,

Time attack refers to a Timed lap of a track circuit:

http://www.gtbattle.com/time-attack.asp

The 0-60 competiton is a RYWB format

http://www.gtbattle.com/zero-60.asp

are there any Track spec/fast road alpines that you guys feel i should be inviting to compete?

Hi Lex,

Thanks for the offer. How many car places would there be on the stand?
Any space for non-competitors?

Is any one else up for this?

The GTA's will most likely be hammered in RWD class (unless Tony gets his finished in time) but would still be a good day out especially with RWYB.

How about

Peter G? (weight advantage + all that competition experience!)
Joe Salama? (usually puts up a good 0-60 show in his 610)

A stand might be good to raise the profile of GTA's as a potential car for modding rather than just the usual classic scene.

I'm up for that

Postby Tony Smith » Mon Mar 21, 2005 8:40 pm

I'll definitely go to that - I'm assuming my car will be finished, I'll run it in the o-60 challenge too if I feel its run-in and tuned properly. Be interesting to see if it can beat the mid to high 4's of the Skyline. I think Joes A610 ran a 5.6 to 60 when timed at Bruntingthorpe. Last one of these sprints I watched had several cars in the 3's and saw a Cossie run 2.9! I have a movie of Rocket Ronnie running at Bruntingthorpe, I'll try and upload it - his car runs 10's at 130mph plus, in full road trim![/img]
Alpines - GTA 3.0 Turbo, GTA 3.0 Inj (Project DD), GTA 6.2 V8 (500 bhp) , R32 Skyline GTR, BMW Alpina B10 635 Highline, Alpina B10 E39 5 Series, Jaguar 4.2 XKR, Laguna 205GT, BMW 120d.

Thanks for the offer. How many car places would there be on the stand?

As many as you guys want
:D

Any space for non-competitors? yup the club stands are mainly for non competotoer who have nice cars the ywoudl enjoy showcasingIs any one else up for this? i hope so

The GTA's will most likely be hammered in RWD class (unless Tony gets his finished in time) but would still be a good day out especially with RWYB -

yes some of the big tuned Rx7s, cossies and 200sx will be very competitive in rwd class but it is all about taking part and having a fun day not just winning 8)

How about

Peter G? (weight advantage + all that competition experience!)
Joe Salama? (usually puts up a good 0-60 show in his 610)

A stand might be good to raise the profile of GTA's as a potential car for modding rather than just the usual classic scene

agreed it will be agreat chance for you guys to show a compelely different section of the performance car scene what Alpines are all about 8)

and yes Rocket Ronnnies car is mental  -he kindly took me for a blast once  ive seen it pull away from 500+hp Tuned R34 GTRs @ over 160mph like they were stuck in reverse

Sounds like an ideal event for a national meeting.
Neutral ground for the North/South crews.
I'll definitely be there.

Who's up for this so I can compile a list.

It would be good to have 10 cars on the club stand and at least a few entrants in the 0-60 at the very least.

So far

Myself - Stand
Tony Smith - Stand + 0-60?
Ben Shephard
Tony Law?
David Gentleman?
