A610 the last thing you want to happen

Postby andy001 » Sun Jan 23, 2011 7:41 pm

DON'T PANIC  ,,,got the car back to my place safe and sound, the car had a slow puncture at the northern meet and was pulling badley as we set off, pumped the tyre up at the 1st petrol station but only got about 2 miles up the M6 when the osf tyre let go, i was only doing 50 mph so coasted on to the hard shoulder, renault wheel braces are usless most of the nuts were'nt too tight and came off but the last one would'nt budge    we were just calling the rac when highway patrol turned up and had better brace, i changed the wheel with waggons roaring past only 5 feet away....nightmare.
made the rest of the journey at 50 mph but the car is now at my house and ready to go to the workshop for its respray
bit of advice..if you don't have a long handle wheel brace in your car ..GET ONE,

Glad you got home OK. Weird that. For the first time ever, I brought a decent wheel brace with me today (along with the obligatory jump leads etc when you drive an Alpine!)

Bet it drives well on the spacesaver

I feel for you today bud I really do, I hit a pothole on the way to the meet but it did last the 2 hour drive, must of damaged the tyer as it was deflating. Thanks for getting it home, will sort some money out for a new tyer too. Cant wait to see her again with a fresh paint job.

When you punctured your tyre in did you run over a Robin as well Paul (a northern saying for a streak of bad luck  )?

Oh dear, the joys of classic car ownership!

An active hobbly like "classic cars" has to be a lot more exciting than a passive hobby like "stamp collecting"
Alpines do it for me :D
