I'll check my french manual to see if it's got any numbers that look vaguely like suspension set figures.

ok thats v useful thanks guys

another question.. Had x4 new Spax dampers fitted last year (supplied via RAOC), and am still using the springs that car came with, being slightly shorter/uprated.
However, at the front of the car i have taken the adjustable platform down to the lowest setting but its still not low enough.- it just looks like standard ride height. The rear has loads of adjustment.

Ive been told that If i get shorter springs (simon-auto does eibach ones) this would allow for the front to come down more? im not sure if this is true?

hi took some pics of the front suspension

the damper is wound right down but the car is still only at 'standard' ride height

does this mean these dampers arent the correct type to allow the front to be lowered?
i assume changing springs will make no difference

help pls...!

I don't know the A310, but there must be some chaps on here that do. Looking at your pic however, the stroke length of your damper will be quite short if you did reduce it much more by reducing ride height. It also looks like the spring collar is for a coil over style 21/2 inch spring than the ones you have. Are you sure they are a matched spring and damper combination?

the springs came with the car when i bought it (they are shorter than original). when i had konis on the car with these springs the car sat -40mm
the dampers are new. but even with diff springs it looks like this isnt ideal..?

Sounds similar to the GTA Spax Kit.

You can only lower the front of the car if you fit shorter than original springs as the original damper has the seat at the very bottom of the damper and the spax version replicates this.

With the rears the original seat is much higher so there is a huge range of adjustment with the standard length spring.

You probably lose some adjustment by virtue of the adpator (spax supplied) that lets you use original diameter springs rather than the 2.5" ones.

If you go 2.5" you need an adaptor at the top instead.

The other option of course, is to go back to the original springs with your Spax adjustable and simply cut off one or one and half coils (turns - but do it in couple of steps to get the height you want). This will also increase the spring rate as well as reducing ride height and gain some adjustment.

Just an idea, you would have to play with it a bit to best balance. Just to do this quite frequently with Fiat Uno turbos  Where have they all gone, stacked or rusted
