Low temp switch

Postby clee » Mon May 03, 2010 4:40 pm

I have the existing relayed circuit in the GTA that used to switch on engine bay cooling fans .I have modded this so that it is switchable and used to fire an intercooler spray bar but I want the same ignition off running timed system to run the charge cooler setup instead .
I need a water temp sensor but it needs to be low temp switching . Any ideas where to get one from ?

Use the adaptronic. Configure one of its outputs as a water temp switch and set up the temp as you wish. It's how I control the CC pump and fan.

Why do you want to keep the CC pump running after the engine is switched off?

Ahhh yes ,I was wondering who'd be the first to spot that Wilson
Good idea :) I will do that at some point .
I have a new 2m Adapt loom ,sensors and stuff from Scoff . I'll be making up a new loom as soon as the new engine is running and tested properly so I'll incorporate that then .
For now I'll just stick with the toggle switching and a good memory I think but that Maplin unit looks useful .

Lee, the circuit its self will work, but it does depend on the type of thermistor used and where and how it is mounted, but there is no timer...it will only run as long as the temp is above the temp threshold setting. More info would be needed before I could really say it would do what you want it to do

I don't really think that has much of an effect on the chagecooler as it's seperate from the engine.

It will do no harm though will it ?
I'm keeping the whole lot in the rear and the CC will sit very close to the down pipe .

Nope, won't do any harm. I just don't think it'll make much difference. Heat tranference into the core from radiation on the outside, given it's shiny and full of a liquid with a high heat capacity, part of a system with a massive amount more of the same fluid....

The electric pump that circulates water round the turbo after switching off.... now that makes a lot of sense.
