I'm looking to do away with the old 3 pin micro switch from the door lever.

Do you know of a suitable modern replacement that looks kinda tidy?

Also what would happen if I wired up a push to make switch and did away with the relay??

Richard,...Not too sure that you can do away with the relay, as it reverses the voltage on to the motor of the actuator to bring it back to rest having opened the door in the first place, the relay needs both the make contact in the microswitch to open, then the rest position contact to reset the motor.
Why do you want to do this, if the micro switch is faulty, can you not just replace it... it is a standard change over type?
The only other switch that might work is a rocker switch of the momentary single pole double throw type.....but that would look terrible and they have to have depth and there might not be enough room behind the panel when the window opens.

I was hoping you might know of a 3 pin switch to replace the old micro switch.

I have found a rocker switch made by Acroelectric type 1511, which is a "on-on momentary one side" which should replace the micro switch, but I cannot find a supplier, RS, Farnell, CPC, and Maplins dont do them, when I have a bit of time I will have another look

One wire is a constant live then when opening power is send down one wire to open the when the handle is released power is sent to fully extend the solenoid ( I think!!)

Richard, as John was explaining the door opening mechanism is not a solonoid but a small electric motor that energises the cogs to open the door and is also on a timer. When you release the handle the voltage is reversed and this winds the cogs back the other way to close the door. This is also on a timer of approx 10 seconds. So what you need is a small two way switch.

Yes..thats about it.....except, when the voltage is sent back to the extended actuator to retract it, a timer in the relay operates to put the power on for only 2 - 3 secs, then shuts the power off, so the power is not applied to the actuator permanently.....dont you just love these french electrics
If you do go ahead with this mod, let me know and I will sus out the correct wiring for the switch if you want

You beat me to it Andrew, the only thing is that your two way (or double throw) switch must be of the momentary type on the open side,..... being spring loaded back to the rest position, hence the Arcoelectric solution

Richard, the switch you need is the one shown in the link from Arcoelectric in my post above, if you scroll down, you will see the type required is the 1511,with option C being 1/4inch spade connections, and it is the "on-on momentary one side" which means it is sprung loaded and will return to the off position automatically when released. I cant find it anywhere, thats why I suggested you email them for a supplier, if you click on "Home",.... at the bottom of the page, there is their email address.

Update...it appears that RScomponents do do this switch after all, eventually found it in the RS Netherlands catalogue and searched the UK site with Pt No.:-

I am 99.9% sure this switch will do the trick, so at £1,25p each worth getting a couple and checking them out
