Cadwell Park

Postby skattrd » Fri Aug 28, 2009 7:54 pm

A friend has asked me if I would be interested in going to an open pit day @ Cadwell Park. I've never been on a track and am a bit nervous about it. Is Cadwell a good track for a novice or should I try and get a bit of experience elsewhere first? I've seen a couple of vids of the circuit on youtube and it does look rather narrow ...

The day isn't until October so hopefully I'll have a GTA by then, but it also gives me chance to get a bit of track experience first.

Go for it. Remember that any track day is going to be ten times safer than going for a blast through the lanes. There is medical, accident and breakdown facilities on-site and they will be with you instantly when required. Just take it at your own pace, you have nothing to prove, you will never be the fastest, no championship to win, just enjoy and have a good day out.

Did my first ever track day there, a great track but with little run off so just dont go stupid on it. Take your time getting up to speed and dont feel harrassed by other drivers. If instruction is available I would recommend it as money well spent.

Intimidating

Postby Tony Smith » Sat Aug 29, 2009 11:55 am

It can be scary even when you've done it loads of times - especially if there are much faster cars on circuit with you. I've always found the hard bit keeping an eye on whats' going on behind you rather than in front. The best advice I could give is to gradually build your speed lap on lap and keep a keen eye out for faster cars wanting to get by.
